Loretta Catherine (Startzman) Rowe
Loretta Catherine (Startzman) Rowe, passed away at 10:05 am on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Indiana University Health- Tipton. She was born March 7, 1927, in Elwood, IN, the daughter of Lewis A. and Rosa Etta (Eckhart) Startzman. She married Harold E. Powell, in 1949, a farmer, and he passed away in 1958. She then married Virgil E. Pickering, in 1959. They were married for 29 years, he passed away in 1988. She helped him in his trucking business. She then married Robert K. Rowe, on October 12, 1991, and they were married for 6 years before he passed away on July 29, 1997.
Loretta was a graduate of Elwood High School in 1944 and a graduate of International Business College in Fort Wayne. She was a secretary at Guide Lamp Division, General Motors, Manager of the Tipton Agricultural Stabilization Office, and then retired from Petrolane L.P. Gas Office in 1992 after 30 years.
She was a member of Harmony Christian Church in Leisure, IN and the Ladies Aid Group. A member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Pharaoh Bearer Beta Chapter since 1980. A member of Oakland Chapter #159, Order of the Eastern Star since 1969 and chapter of Greentown #195, OES.
Loretta enjoyed working in the yard, reading, crocheting, and traveling. She visited Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, and Israel. She and Robert spent many winters in Fort Meyers, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters; Naomi, Lois (Irwin) Scott and (Bill Abbott), Saba (Ward) Lynas and (Hayden Hankins); brothers, Hubert (Jean) Startzman, and Robert (Treva) Startzman.
Loretta is survived by several step-children and step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; Lewis Hankins, William Abbott, Jr, Shirley Startzman, Gary Startzman, and Kathy Henken.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, with Pastors Josh Shoemaker and Ron Myer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. An Eastern Star service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023, with visitation following until 7:00 pm, at the funeral home. David Wayne Bruce
David Wayne Bruce, 61, Tipton, passed away at 9:10 am Sunday, October 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 7, 1962, in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Stephen & Sally (Chope) Bruce. On November 25, 1982, in Berlin, Germany, he married Simone Rietz who preceded him in death on April 13, 2023.
David was a 1980 graduate of Harrison Community High School in Michigan. He served with the United States Army from 1980-1984. He later served with the Army reserves and then was activated to active duty from 2001-2002. He worked for Hoosier Spline Broach as a machinist for many years. After leaving Hoosier Spline Broach, he worked for Chrysler Corp for a while, then left and worked full time horseshoeing through his horse farrier business, DB Horseshoeing. David’s biggest hobby was running, he was a member of the Kokomo Road Runners. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle, his motorcycle and trail riding horses with his wife. David had a passion for music and loved to play guitar, piano and drums. He was a hard worker, had a heart of gold, was very witty, loved his family and cherished his dog, Klaus.
David is survived by his mother, Sally Bruce; son, Ben (Stephanie) Bruce; grandchildren, Brianna Bruce and Jaxson Bruce; siblings, Stephen (Lois) Bruce and Tamyra (David) Krapek, along with several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Bruce; wife, Simone Bruce; mother and father-in-law, Werner & Claudia (Krause) Rietz.

James Allen McCorkle
James Allen McCorkle, 73, Windfall, passed away at 7:09 am Friday, October 6, 2023, at IU Health North Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. He was born November 17, 1949, in Tipton, the son of the late Charles Edward & Grace Anna (Reed) McCorkle.
James was a 1967 graduate of Windfall High School and had attended Purdue University. He served with the Army National Guard. He worked as a Field Manager for Dennis Hybrids and Lynx Seeds. James was a member of Windfall United Methodist Church. He loved his dog, Tia and watching old western movies. James was a kindhearted person and people loved him; he will be truly missed by all that knew him.
James is survived by his son, Shad McCorkle; sisters, Ann Wyle (Steve Sharp) and Kathryn Ellis; grandchildren, Evan McCorkle, Collin McCorkle and Layla McCorkle; great-grandson, Liam McCorkle; and his beloved canine friend, Tia.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, David McCorkle, Fred McCorkle, Charles McCorkle, Jr., Betty Vanhorn and Phyllis Applanalp.
In keeping with James’ wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to goye.org to go towards the Great Commission. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.
