Richard Craig Lewis
Richard Craig Lewis, a devoted family man, skilled tradesman, and passionate musician, passed away on October 1, 2023, in Marion, Indiana. Born on April 1, 1948, in Tipton, Indiana, to Virginia Mae Lewis and Orville "Dick" Lewis, Rick's life was marked by his faith, humor, and intelligence.
Rick was a proud graduate of Windfall High School, Class of 1966. His hard work paid off when he earned his Journeyman's Card in Machine Repair with the UAW 292. This accomplishment paved the way for a fulfilling 32-year career at General Motors/Delco Electronics, from which he retired in 1998. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at the Summit Theological Seminary College in Peru.
Rick's commitment to his country was evident in his service to the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He earned two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. His courage and dedication during this time were a testament to his character and a source of pride for his family. Rick remained active in the Military community.
In his personal life, Rick had a deep love for his family and his roots. He was the proud father of Richard "Craig" Lewis (Jennifer), Shannon Willis (Karl), and stepson John Wright. He was a grandfather to Emily and Aubrey Willis, Molly and Maggie Lewis, and Sherry Wright. He was the beloved brother of Tracey Luty (Leonard) and Fran Burbury (Malcolm). His family will remember him as a loving and supportive figure who always made time for his loved ones.
Rick's interests were diverse and reflected his curious and intelligent nature. He had a passion for computers and genealogy, often spending hours researching his family's history. He also took great joy in caring for the family farm and spending time with his beloved pets. Music was a significant part of Rick's life, and he continued to play his bass guitar throughout his life, often meeting with his old bandmates for breakfast or lunch.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Sherry Lewis, his parents, and two sisters, Kit McMahon and Teresa Lewis. His memory will be cherished by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Rick was a man of faith, full of humor, and intelligence. His life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his work, and his passions. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Military Honors at a later date.
Michael Kent Ryan
Michael Kent Ryan, 72, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away October 1, 2023. He was born on December 1, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN the son of Woodrow D. and Betsy I. Ryan (Eads).
Michael retired from Chrysler in Kokomo after 30 years of service. He was a member of the UAW, VFW and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Surviving relatives include his son Thomas Ryan of Kokomo, IN; three grandchildren, Anyssa Hasan (Aleaf), Kenzie Ryan and Jordan Ryan; and his caregiver Toni Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Woodrow Daniel Ryan, Jr.
