Douglas Paige Lytle
Douglas Paige Lytle, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 3:05 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his home. He was born in Kokomo on January 13, 1940, to the late Robert and Ada (Boyer) Lytle. On September 5, 1959, he married Ruth Annette Henger, who preceded him in death on July 7, 2021.
Doug graduated from Kokomo High School in 1957 and earned his associate degree from Indiana University Bloomington. He worked as a machinist at Continental Steel for 28 1/2 years and at Chrysler for 17 years, retiring in 2001. He also owned a tool and die refitting company. Doug was a member of Local U.A.W. 686. He loved fishing, playing cards, spending time with his family at Bruce Lake, and telling a good joke.
Doug is survived by his children, Steven (Jenny) Lytle, Jill (Randy) Coffey, David (Brice) Lytle, and Patrick Lytle; grandchildren, James Foley, Jerod Foley, Eric Lytle, Zach Lytle, Bret Lytle, Sean Lytle, Keith Lytle, Jessica Clark, Miguel Gosnell, and Ezekiel Gosnell; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger Lytle, Dustin (Joyce) Lytle, and Sally Stilwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brothers, Robert (Vickie) Lytle and William “Bill” (Marcia) Lytle.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home at 1315 W. Lincoln Road in Kokomo, with Pastor Paul Sutherland officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the service begins on Tuesday. Diane M. Shackelford
Our momma bear, not only to her three cubs but an entire generation of soccer players, and so many more, Diane M. Shackelford, lost her courageous battle to cancer on Sept 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by unconditionally loving each other to the fullest.
She was known as Mom, Daughter, Sister, Nanna, Great-Nanna, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, and Keeper of your most inner thoughts.
Her pride was in meticulous attention to details, that’s what made her a talented seamstress. Her love of puzzles, card games and spending time with family and friends may have been simple, but meant the world to her.
Diane was born on May 21, 1949, to Ollie Mae (Gamblin) and Everett Andrew Shackelford, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her siblings Janet Kirby, Ralph and Susan Shackelford, Judy and Ken Damewood, Bonnie Atkisson, Bettie and Lowell Burton, and Kathleen Shackelford. She is also survived by her children, Troy and Paige(Ward) Edwards, Rachelle and Joshua Chance, and Benjamin and Alisa Edwards; grandchildren, Khyrstin (and Josh) Morgan, Brandon (and Skylar) Cook, Dylan (and Hannah) Chance, Haydon Chance, Keith (and Alysia) Ward, Jessie Ward and Dustin Kiser, Alex Ward, Kyle Allen, Damon (and Cynthia Vervaet) Klumpp, Shayla (and Austyn) Carrigan, and Brynlynn Lewis, Great grandchildren Brandon Lee Cook Jr., Dylan Ward, Noah Ward, Liam Ward, Susie Vervaet, Jaspyr Carrigan, and Apollo Carrigan.
Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Memory Garden, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, on Monday, September 25, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
