Amelia Layne Hurston
With a broken heart, we announce the death of our beloved baby girl, Amelia Layne Hurston.
Amelia was born August 28, 2023. She was born at 26 weeks and fought to stay here with us until September 2, 2023. We feel blessed to have spent the short time we had with our precious baby girl and were able to hold her during her last breaths. We feel comfort in knowing our baby girl is out of pain and was loved by so many.
Amelia is survived by her mother, Laney Miller; father, Tyler Hurston; grandparents, Carey Tolle, Mark Tolle, Greg Miller, Teresa McKinnie, and Herman McKinnie; aunts, Teighlor Williams and Madison Miller; uncles, Jake Williams, Trae Redman, Marc Hurston and Austin Cook; and cousins, Addysen Williams, Graysen Williams, Tinslee Williams, Raelynn Williams, Vivian Williams Zeppelin Hurston and Sylis Cook.
A visitation for Amelia will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902.

Michael “Mike” Kane Fitch
Michael “Mike” Kane Fitch, 73, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023. Mike was born In Anderson, IN, on April 30, 1950, to Earl Fitch and Gertrude Roach Fitch. He graduated from Daleville High School in 1968. He earned his Certificate of Training in Television Service and Repair in 1970.
Mike moved to Kokomo and worked at Montgomery Wards as a TV and appliance repairman. In 1979, he was hired at Delco Electronics where he worked as a radio repairman, machinist and eventually in the silicon, wafer-based chip fabrication lab. Mike transferred to Allison Transmission where he retired in 2009 after 30 years with General Motors.
Throughout his life, Mike continued educating himself and working on electronics and computers in his basement, which was filled with computers, electronic equipment and books. After retiring from GM, he and Martha enjoyed traveling to dine at restaurants throughout central Indiana, especially to Art’s Pizza in Anderson.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Martha Jane Fitch; stepson Thomas; granddaughter, Agnes; sister, Ruth Conroy; brother, Victor Fitch; and Jacks, his faithful, Doberman mix companion.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 -7 pm Friday, September 8, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, Indiana. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Albright Cemetery in Kokomo. Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
Betty A. Pells
Betty A. Pells, 89, of Kokomo, IN passed away September 4, 2023. She was born on May 31, 1934, in Peoria, IL the daughter of Richard and Bernice Grose (Blunier). She married Lowell Pells who preceded her in death.
Betty retired from Elwood Haynes Elementary School after several years of service. She loved to play cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed doing word searches, visiting with company and reading her bible.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kathy McIntosh of Forest, IN; Bobbett (Richard) Dale of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jimmie (Sherri) Woodring, Autumn (John) Pebley, Rhonda (Shawn) Long, Bill Sheasley, Jeremy Mueller; great-grandchildren, Kasara, Ashley, Nathaniel, Briana, Summer, John Casey, Jordan, Pete, Darrell, Will Chloe, Tayla, Makayla; great-great-grandchildren, Wesson and Weighlyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ronnie Sellers, granddaughter April Woodring, sister Shirley Gosnell and an infant daughter Karen Sue.

Michael Edward Horne
Michael Edward Horne, age 53, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at his residence. He was born on September 22, 1969, to the Frances M. Horne and Andra L. (Gilmore) Horne in Kokomo.
Surviving is his mother, Andra L. Horne; sister, Tambra (Jeremy) Castor; nephew, Carson D. Castor; and niece, Morgan R. Castor.
Preceding in death is his father, Frances M. Horne; infant brother, John David Horne; maternal grandparents, Paul B. and Euda M. Gilmore and paternal grandparents, Frances M. and Margaret A. Horne.
