Low voter turn-out did little to lessen the enthusiasm at GOP headquarters on election night, May 3. The Republican faithful and candidates filled the foyer at the former Kokomo Event Center to watch the returns trickle in, and they were rewarded with a close race for Howard Superior Court I Judge.

The outcome went to the wire between attorneys Matt Elkin and Blake Dahl, with Elkin taking 53 percent of the vote to edge out his opponent, 2,797 to 2,499. Remarkably, the margin remained virtually unchanged in the race from start to finish. Elkin led in absentee voting percentage, 54-46, before the election day returns arrived.
