Paul parses parking problems for pair of parks
City council also tackles annexation on northeast, northwest sides
Visitors to the Howard County Veterans Memorial have struggled with a parking problem ever since the creation of Championship Park immediately to the east. Visitors to the baseball and softball games at the park have utilized the memorial’s limited parking area, despite signage prohibiting such activity.
Jerry Paul, president of the Howard County Veterans Memorial Corp., addressed the Kokomo Common Council at its July 11 meeting concerning parking at the memorial. Paul stated that he had approached the council in 2021 about the conflict, but received no response.
“Last time I was here, you passed an ordinance restricting parking on the street for Championship Park,” said Paul. “I asked you to amend that to include restricted parking in Veterans Memorial Park. You took that advisement, but it has been over a year. So, I’m wondering where we’re at on it.”
