The Nu Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity held its annual Purple and Gold Seersucker Ball in May, a fundraising event for the fraternity that enables it to provide scholarships each year.
The crowd filled the ballroom at The Hobson in downtown Kokomo, where they were greeted by dapper doormen before being ushered into the event. The tables were decked out in the event's signature colors, and those in attendance were entertained by live music and a variety of festivities.
The Nu Mu Nu chapter was established in 2016 by a group of Omega Psi Phi brothers who desired to establish a graduate chapter of the fraternity, comprised of participants from Kokomo and Noblesville.
Nu Mu Nu was chartered on Oct. 26, 2026, and began operations on Nov. 1 of that year. The founding brothers included Anthony Carter, Ed Foster, Gideon Green, Clarence Grier, Antonio Hampton, Derrick Hicks, Harold Smith, Ted Sutton, Lance Washington, and Angelo Youghbor.
The local chapter engages in several charitable activities throughout the year, including a Back-to-School event each summer and the Seersucker Ball.
