The Howard County chapter of Relay for Life will hold its 2024 kickoff this Saturday, March 16, from 1-4 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S, 00 EW, Kokomo. This year’s American Cancer Society Relay has adopted a festive theme – the Carnival of Colors – and the event has been moved to the end of summer. The 2024 Relay will take place on Sept. 14 in Foster Park.
The kickoff event is a time for teams to register and recruit walkers, for sponsors and vendors to apply for space at the September event, and to get survivors signed up to participate.
According to local campaign co-chair Sherri Johnson, the Howard County Relay chapter is in the running to be featured in the national Relay campaign this fall. If selected, the national Relay organization will attend Kokomo’s event and will take photos to include in future Relay for Life publications.
“To help in their decision-making process, we need to campaign as much as possible and recruit teams, walkers, and sponsors,” said Johnson. “We would love to have everyone participate and help our Howard County event!”
