The Howard County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for anyone interested in joining their team as a Deputy Sheriff. Those interested shall submit an application to the Howard County Sheriff's Office no later than Fri., Oct. 6, at 4 p.m.

The testing for this process will begin on Sat., Oct. 7, at 8 a.m. Arrive early to allow time to sign in. You should report to Eastern Elementary School, 308 S. Harrison St., Greentown. Please dress in clothing appropriate for physical activity (i.e. gym shorts, sweats, t-shirts, running shoes) and dress for the weather.
The written portion of the testing process will begin at 8 a.m. You will be allowed a maximum of two hours for the completion of a General Adaptability Test, which consists of vocabulary, math, and the ability to use practical judgment and establish priorities.
The physical assessment will begin directly after completion of the written test. Before you begin, medical staff will take your blood pressure, which must be below 140/95 to continue.
The physical assessment test shall be pass/fail, based on the following:
1.5 mile run within a 16 minute, 28 second time limit
25 military push-ups (no time limit)
29 sit-ups within 1 minute
16-inch vertical jump
300-meter dash in under 71 seconds
If you pass both the General Adaptability Test and the physical assessment, there will be a sign-up sheet for interviews.
