Do you love to bake Christmas cookies? Do you love to eat Christmas cookies? This event is for you!
Join Kokomo Urban Outreach on Fri., Dec. 8, for the Battle of the Christmas Cookies, a cooking competition for all ages. Businesses and individuals can enter their favorite Christmas cookie in the competition for prizes and bragging rights. Cookie lovers can purchase their favorites by the dozen. And Santa will make an appearance, too.
The battle will take place at Northside Village Church, 2419 N. Locke St., from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Kokomo Urban Outreach is looking for cookie bakers, judges, sponsors, and cookie eaters. For more information, call 765-457-1983 or email boccookies@gmail.com.
Meet a pioneer woman in Greentown
The Greentown Historical Society welcomes a pioneer woman to town on Wed., Oct. 25. Veteran storyteller Sharon Tillman will visit the historical society, 103 E. Main St., at 6 p.m., in the guise of a woman settling in Liberty Township in 1858.
The entire community is welcome to attend and interact with the pioneer woman as part of Greentown’s 175th anniversary celebration. For questions or additional information, call Katie Regan at 908-967-4246.
Greentown Historical Society annual meeting Nov. 9
The Greentown Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and dinner on Thu., Nov. 9. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Co-Alliance Community Building on the Howard County Fairgrounds in Greentown
The guest speaker for the meeting will be Brad Howell. The meal will be catered by Main Occasions Catering of Greentown. The cost for dinner is $25 per person. The meal will consist of two meats, ham and chicken, side dishes, and a drink included.
Reservations are required for the meal and must be made by Thu., Nov. 2. Make reservations by calling 765-626-0164 or mailing the reservation form and a check to: Greentown Historical Society, PO. Box 313, Greentown, IN 46936. The facility is handicap accessible.
