The Strawberry Festival is here!
Strawberry shortcake, Artsapalooza and more from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. today
The Kokomo Family YMCA hosts the first session of STEM Camp on June 12. Sponsored by NiSource/NIPSCO, kids can enjoy a fun-filled week, enriching their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at beautiful Camp Tycony. Spots are limited, so apply today! Applications are available at the downtown YMCA. Please turn in applications to the Membership Desk. There is a limit of one session per child, ages 7-12.
The Strawberry Festival has arrived in downtown Kokomo as part of the First Friday festivities planning from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 2. The event features strawberry shortcake, live music, vendors, and plenty of activities throughout downtown.
The courthouse square hosts the strawberry shortcake booths, where visitors can enjoy a bowl piled high with strawberries, ice cream, and whipped cream. Tickets for the strawberry shortcake are $6 and can be purchased at the event.
Admission to the festival and all of the other offerings, however, are free.
Check out the Kokomo Art Association’s (KAA) Artsapalooza Art Market on North Main Street. Artists and makers will be on hand to provide demonstrations and sell their creations.
Artworks Gallery will have extended hours Strawberry Festival and Artsapalooza Art Market, open until 8 p.m. Inside and outside the gallery will be bursting with artistic talent. Inside the gallery, enjoy works from Gallery artists, studio artists, guest artist Tashema Davis, and KAA’s exhibition of SHAK Makerspace makers on the second floor.
Ramona Daniels' Artyside Studio will offer signsup for Monday art classes with Ramona. Meet Artworks Gallery's new artists, Corinne McAuley and Shelley Wilder. Corinne is a mixed media artist working primarily in beading. Shelley is an acrylics on canvas artist. KAA is happy they have chosen to share their talents with the organization.
Meet new KAA member Cheryl Fink, who will be at the gallery showing and selling her art. And Xander Burtch will be playing the Theremin from 5 - 6:30 p.m. The Theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer. Stop by to hear this space age instrument.
The ABATE Tiny Tots Motorcycle Adventure course is a staple at the Strawberry Festival. The little ones will love going for a spin on a motorcycle during the festival downtown.
