Cook-out and Fishing Rodeo
The Tipton Moose Lodge #1590, Tipton FOP Lodge #109 and Tipton Professional Firefighters Local 1979 will host a cook-out and kids fishing rodeo on Sun., Sept. 25, at the Tipton Moose Lodge, 900 W. Jefferson St., in Tipton. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m., and the fishing tournament runs from 2-4 p.m. Bring your fishing pole, bait, and appetite. Lots of prizes will be given away, and free hot dogs and hamburgers will be served after the tournament.
Kokomo Civic Theatre’s ‘Dogfight’
Kokomo Civic Theatre presents a final performance of “Dogfight” on Sun., Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. in Havens Auditorium, 2300 S. Washington St., on the Indiana University Kokomo campus. Go Wild Outside
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold Go Wild Outside Preschool Fun on Mon., Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. until noon at the KHCPL Russiaville branch’s Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, 315 Mesa Dr., Russiaville. Have fun with music, art, building, climbing, and messy play. The event is designed for children ages 3-5, but all kids are welcome.
Apples to Apples
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold Kids in the Kitchen: Apples to Apples, on Tue., Sept. 27, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the KHCPL Main branch’s Meeting Rooms A and B, 220 N. Union St. This event is designed for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. No registration is required, but supplies are limited to the first 25 participants. All attendees will learn about no-bake apple recipes.
TC Student Art Auction
Tri-Central Community Schools will hold a TC Student Art Auction on Tue., Sept. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Art created by TC students will be on display for purchase, with proceeds going toward the creation of a STEM outdoor classroom and the school’s art club.
Turning Point ribbon cutting
Turning Point – System of Care will hold a ribbon cutting for its Center for Hope and Recovery Stabilization on Wed., Sept. 28, from 4-6 p.m. The facility is located at 1234 N. Courtland Ave.; the former Columbian School building. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP by calling 765-860-0021.
Vaping: What Do You Need to Know?
Howard County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation, 216 W. Walnut St., will present “Vaping: What Do You Need to Know?” on Wed., Sept. 28, at 5:15 p.m. Parents and kids are welcome. Redeemer Lutheran School, 705 E. Southway Blvd., will hold a Book Fair and Ice Cream Social for its students and their families on Fri., Sept. 30, from 3-7 p.m. in the Redeemer Lutheran School gymnasium. Enjoy an ice cream sundae with your favorite toppings and support the RLS Book Fair. Those unable to attend the event can shop the book fair Sept. 26-29 from 3-4 p.m. each day.

First Friday Lunch and Learn
The Kokomo Family YMCA and Community Howard Regional Health will hold a Lunch and Learn on Fri., Oct. 7, at 12:10 p.m. in the YMCA Community Room, 114 N. Union St. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At this First Friday free healthcare education program, Dr. Annette Moore will lead a discussion on breast health. Dr. Moore, a medical oncologist with Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center, will discuss breast screening guidelines, lifestyle, and hereditary factors that increase the likelihood of breast cancer as well as the latest advancements in treating breast cancer. Curtain Call’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’

The Kokomo Humane Society will hold its Autumn Cat-Ch fundraising dinner on Sat., Oct. 29, from 6-9 p.m. at the Continental Ballroom, 920 Millbrook Lane. Admission is $60, which can be pre-paid by visiting the Kokomo Humane Society, 729 E. Hoffer St., during regular business hours. Attendees will not receive tickets this year. Instead, they will receive bid paddles after checking in. The dinner will feature New Orleans cuisine and a live dessert auction.
