ABATE Kids’ Easter Party
ABATE of Howard County will hold a Kids’ Easter Party on Sun., April 6, beginning at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the American Legion Post 6, 2604 S. Lafountain St. This is a free event, but participants are asked to bring an Easter-themed treat or dessert. There will be an Easter egg hunt, free pizza, a visit from Peter Cottontail, and Easter baskets and/or treat bags for each child, while supplies last. Meditation Mondays
Experience change, growth, and vitality through meditation with Raine and Sage Healing Center, 901 S. Courtland Ave. Sessions take place every first and third Monday of the month from 10-10:45 a.m. and are free to all. The next session takes place on Mon., April 7.
Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., April 7. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.
Monday Fun Day
Story time is a valuable opportunity for your child to develop essential literacy, social, and creative skills. The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a Monday Fun Day Story Time on Mon., April 7, from 10-11 a.m. at its Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., for children ages 3-5.
Sew Much
Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., April 7, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sewing machines provided. This event takes place at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road.
Recovery Café
Turning Point – A System of Care offers the Recovery Café, a time to connect with love, show respect, cultivate compassion, practice forgiveness, encourage growth, and to give something back. Ivy Tech Day
On April 8, the Ivy Tech Kokomo Service Area will be among the College’s 19 campuses across Indiana that are celebrating Ivy Tech Day, a 24-hour event dedicated to raising funds for student success projects, scholarships, and emergency support. Donations can be made at ivytech.edu/giveday starting at midnight on April 8. This year, Community First Bank will donate $6,000 to the effort once 200 individual gifts are received. Ivy Tech invites the community to wear green on April 8 in support of the effort. Supporters can watch the Kokomo Ivy Tech Community College Facebook page for giving opportunities throughout the day and visit local community partners participating in support of this very impactful day.
Active Readers Club
Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library on Tue., April 8, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., to stay active and share your favorite reads while walking around Russiaville. Inclement weather times will include an indoor workout at the library, 315 Mesa Dr.

Samaritan Caregivers Flower Sale
Now through April 9, Samaritan Caregivers is selling spring flowers to benefit seniors aging in place. Red geraniums and red or pink Dragon Wing begonia plants are available in 12” patio pots for $26. Purple or pink New Guinea impatiens, and red or blue petunias are available in hanging baskets for $24. Combination and assorted pots and hanging baskets of the plants are also available. Runner’s Blueprint
Runner's Blueprint begins Thu., April 10, at the Kokomo Family YMCA, 118 N. Union St. This class offers guidance, motivation, and coaching for runners of all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Whether you want to maintain or increase your fitness or improve your racing performance in the 5K to half-marathon range, this class is for you. In addition to training sessions, there will be weekly discussions covering topics such as nutrition, footwear, training techniques, mindset, and general fitness practices. Shelter Planning and Prep
When disasters strike, there’s often no time to look up what you should do. You have to know what you should do. CrisisReady Howard County will cover various sheltering scenarios on Thu., April 10, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St. Learn where to take shelter, how to seal your home from a chemical hazard, and what you should take with you when you evacuate. Plus, learn about identifying an opioid overdose and proper Narcan administration, presented by the Howard County Health Department. Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants.

Adaptive Egg Hunt
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold an Adaptive Egg Hunt on Thu., April 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. This adaptive egg hunt is intended for community members of all ages with physical, mental, and/or mobility constrains. There is no cost to participate. Anyone needing assistance is welcome to bring one helper on the field.
IDEM Air Quality Hearing
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will hold a public meeting to discuss air permitting for JWA CO., LTD on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., and ending either at 9:00 p.m. or when all comments have been heard, whichever comes first. The hearing will take place at Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo, Health Professions Center-Hingst Hall (Enter Door #1), 1901 E. Morgan St. Feedback also will be accepted online by visiting on.IN.gov/survey. The public meeting will not include formal presentations but will give the public an opportunity to submit written comments, ask questions, and discuss air pollution concerns with IDEM staff.

The Dinner 2025
A fun night of food, fellowship, flavor, and fantastic music will take place Fri., April 11, at The Experience, 1801 Country Club Dr. All proceeds benefit the mission of the Gilead House – Kokomo. The evening starts at 5:30 p.m. with a sponsored cocktail hour followed by savory Italian cuisine paired with wine at 6:30 p.m. Live bidding will follow dinner, as those in attendance compete for a dozen amazing “top shelf” items, followed by musical guests the Time Travelers. Celebrate National Libraries Week with a Dance Across Russiaville. Participants will gather either at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Russiaville Branch, 315 Mesa Dr., or the Russiaville Lions Club, 555 N. Liberty St., on Sat., April 12, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Dance together and celebrate libraries!
Gene Parks 1 Mile/5K
The Gene Parks One-Mile Fun Run and 5K takes place Sat., April 12. Both races begin at the Russiaville Lions Club, 555 N. Liberty St. Onsite registration takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Scout Troop 619 will host a pancake breakfast from 8:30-11:30 a.m. during the event at the Lions Club. The races begin at 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively. Proceeds from the fun run will benefit Ainsley’s Angels, and proceeds from the 5K will fund the Carl Koontz Scholarship. Race parking is at the Jeff Stout Community Cener, 650 N. West St.
YMCA Pickleball Tournaments
The Kokomo Family YMCA will offer a mixed doubles Pickleball double-elimination tournament on Sat., April 12. Start time is 9 a.m. The tournament is available to YMCA members and non-members. Feel free to bring your own paddles and indoor pickleballs. The cost of registration is $60 per team, and all proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Trash to Treasure
Artist Vivian Bennett will offer the Trash to Treasure Junk Journal Workshop on Sat., April 12, from noon until 4 p.m. In this class, Vivian will teach participants how to make a junk journal from start to finish, using items normally thrown away. The class will take place at Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Main St., and the cost of the class is $62.50. Palm Sunday Tornadoes Revisited
Sixty years ago, Howard County was hit by the most damaging tornadoes in the community’s history, leaving a wake of destruction that is remembered even today. Join the Greentown Historical Society on Sat., April 12, as award-winning author Janis Thornton discusses her book, “The 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Indiana.” The discussion coincides with a new exhibit on the Palm Sunday tornadoes, which will be on display. This event takes place in the community room at Century Fields/Century Villa, 705 N. Luscious Spring Break
Spring Break will heat up on Sat., April 12, as Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 407 N. Union St., hosts A Luscious Spring Break Burlesque Show. Prepare for a night of sultry entertainment, dazzling performances, and unexpected surprises, hosted by Daddy and Lady Luscious.
