Hydrant Flushing in Kokomo, Russiaville
Indiana American Water will flush water mains in Kokomo beginning on April 22 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flushing should be completed by June 14. No interruptions in water service will occur. However, customers may experience a slight drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration. Customers should refrain from doing laundry during the time flushing takes place in their neighborhood. For additional information, call 800-492-8373.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. Nurses in Recovery
The Nurses in Recovery Support Group will be held on Mon., April 22, from 6-7 p.m. at Turning Point System of Care, 1234 N. Courtland Ave. This program is approved by the Indiana Professional Recovery Program. If you are a nurse in recovery or just need support, Turning Point encourages you to come. This support group will be held every Monday from 6-7 p.m.
Drums Alive! Family Beats

Cass County College & Career Expo
The doors of Logansport High School’s Berry Bowl will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, for the annual Cass County College & Career Expo. The public is invited to attend the event where more than 40 central Indiana employers and 12 Indiana colleges and universities will be available to meet with prospective employees and students. Ivy Tech Community College, the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce, and Logansport High School are sponsoring the expo. The event is open to Ivy Tech students and alumni, high school students, and community members seeking part-time or full-time jobs or internship positions or interested in learning more about educational opportunities offered by colleges throughout the state of Indiana. Members of the public are encouraged to come between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. when high school participants are at lunch. Book Buddy Book Club
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities - regardless of reading ability - can join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library on Tue., April 23, from 10-11 a.m. to read, make friends, and have fun. The club will meet at the library’s main branch, 220 N. Union St.
PAL Spring Soccer
Registration is open now for the Police Athletic League Spring Soccer League until the end of April. Sign up now by visiting www.kokomopalsports.com. The fee is $72 and must be paid at the time of registration. In-person registration is available every Tuesday and Thursday in April from 10 a.m. until noon at the PAL Field, 3520 W. Boulevard St. The season will begin the first weekend of May and will run until the end of June. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, depending on the number of teams. All games and practices will take place at the PAL field. The league currently needs coaches. Those interested in serving should note this on the registration form. Age groups are 4-5, 6-8, and 9-13. The Howard County Health Department will present a Spring Immunization Clinic exclusively for Kokomo School Corp. families on Wed., Apr. 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Central Middle School gymnasium, 303 E. KokoGo Opens
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department’s KokoGo Free Ride bicycle sharing service opens on weekends in Spring, beginning on Fri., April 26, from 4-9 p.m. The service will be available on Saturdays from 1-9 p.m. and Sundays from 1-7 p.m. KokoGo is located at 307 S. Main St., just west of Foxes Trail.
Lewis Cass Elementary Carnival
Lewis Cass Elementary School, 6422 E State Road 218, Walton, will hold its annual Spring Carnival on Fri., April 26, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The evening will include games, an obstacle course, food, face painting, a dunk tank, and more. There also will be a silent auction and food vendors available. Tickets for use at individual festival stations are 50 cents each. Arbor Day in Russiaville
Are you dividing huge irises, or are you tired of your houseplants and want to make a change? Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library in Russiaville, 315 Mesa Dr., on Sat., April 27, from 10 a.m. until noon for a seed and indoor and outdoor plant swap! Then, from 11 a.m. until noon, visitors can learn about composting, which reduces waste, decreases greenhouse gases, strengthens the soil, and promotes healthy plant growth. And it’s fun when you do it with one of Earth’s smallest recyclers: Worms!
Fuel Cornhole Tournament
Fuel Church, 2021 E. Markland Ave., will hold its first-ever cornhole tournament on Sat., April 27, beginning at 10 a.m. The event will include food, fun, and a ping-pong tournament as well. Registration for the cornhole tournament is $30 and can be completed by visiting www.thefuelchurch.com. Registration for the ping-pong tournament is $10. There is a buy-back option for those eliminated. All proceeds from the event with sponsor children going to church camp this summer.
Medication Take-Back
Community Howard Regional Health will hold a Drive-Thru Medication Take-Back Event on Sat., April 27, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Community Surgery Center, 3503 S. Reed Road on the Community Howard campus. Unwanted and expired medications may be dropped off at the main entrance of the surgery center by entering the east drive. Security will be present to receive the medications, which may include prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, liquid medications, vitamins, and pet medications. The drop-off cannot accept mercury thermometers, chemotherapy medications or radioactive substances, oxygen containers, pressurized containers or inhalers, needles or sharps, or illicit drugs. Art Glass Exhibition
The Kokomo Art Association invites the community to experience the realm of art glass with the help of one of the world’s leading manufacturers, Kokomo Opalescent Glass. A curated exhibit of the processes and products created by Kokomo Opalescent Glass for the past 130 years will be on display at the Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Main St., through Sat., April 27. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.

KAA 96th Annual Spring Art Show
The Kokomo Art Association is preparing for its 96th Annual Spring Art Show, May 4 - June 1, and it is looking for artists who would like to be featured. An artist call-out will take place on Sun., April 28, from 1-3 p.m. when artists may drop off their works at the association, 525 W. Workers Memorial Day
On Mon., April 29, the local labor community will hold a commemoration for those workers who have been killed or injured on the job over the previous year. The memorial will take place at Rodgers Pavilion in Highland Park at noon. The memorial is sponsored by United Auto Workers Local 292. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Firefly Stage Ribbon Cutting

Create upcycled droids from 4-5:30 p.m. to celebrate Star Wars Day, which takes place on May 4. This event will be held at the library’s main branch, 220 N. Union St.
Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian
Rhine Hall Entertainment Venue, 507 N. Union St., presents Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian: Comedy for a Cause. Every Thursday evening in May, a rotating line-up of comedians will vie for a spot in the Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian finals, determined by a panel of celebrity judges and audience votes. The audience votes by donating $1 per vote for the comedian of their choice. Each week, the donations collected will be given to a different charity, along with a portion of ticket sales. The comedian receiving the most audience votes over the four preliminary competition weeks will earn a spot in the final. On May 2, United Way Serving Howard and Tipton Counties will receive the donations. Kokomo Urban Outreach is the recipient on May 9. The Howard County Veterans Memorial Corp. is the benefitting charity on May 16, and Ainsley’s Angels will benefit from donations on May 23. The finals will be held on Thu., May 31. Doors open each week at 6:30 p.m., and the shows start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.

The Samaritan Caregivers’ annual Chocolate Celebration is scheduled for Fri., May 3, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at One Church, 2734 S. Downtown Farmers Market Opening Day

The Big Secret: Starting and Finishing Your Novel

Narrow Gate Derby Ball
The 3rd Annual Derby Ball fundraiser for Narrow Gate Horse Ranch will take place on Sat., May 4, at The Experience at the Kokomo Country Club. The event runs from 5-10 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Dress for this event is formal/semi-formal. There also will be a contest for Best Hat. The Kentucky Derby will be live streamed during the ball, and those in attendance may vote for the winning horse. There will be a deejay and dancing, along with door prizes and a silent/live auction. More than 20 churches have created themed baskets for the silent auction. Register in advance to see items in the silent auction 3-4 days before the event. YMCA Swim Lessons
Registration for the Kokomo Family YMCA’s Swim Lessons is now open. Lessons begin May 6, giving your child time to get comfortable in and around water as pool season approaches. There are classes for children ages 6 months to 2 years, 3-5 years, and 6-13 years old.
