Support the Troops Ride
Region 3 ABATE Indiana will hold a Support the Troops ride on Sun., April 27, at We Care of Kokomo, Inc., 1700 E. Sycamore St. Sign-in begins at 11 a.m., and the ride leaves at 1:30 p.m. The route will run north on Ind. 931, turning around and heading south on Ind. 931 to Ind. 28, turning east to travel through Tipton and Elwood, then heading north on Ind. 37 to Ind. 22-35, heading west through Greentown, and returning to We Care in Kokomo. The Piano Man
Kokomo Community Concerts will present its final concert of the 2024-2025 season – Sing Me a Song: You’re the Piano Man – featuring music from Billy Joel on Sun., April 27, at 2:30 p.m. The concert will take place at Kokomo High School’s auditorium, 2501 S. Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., April 28. Central Middle Dance Team Auditions
The Central Middle International School Dance Team will hold audition clinics on Tue., April 29, and Tue., May 6, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the CMIS Dance Studio. Enter through Door 10 on South Union Street. Learn the tryout routine and enhance your dance technique in preparation for auditions on May 13. The dance team is exclusive to Kokomo School Corp. middle school students. During the dance season, the team will practice once a week for two hours before participating in events and games, as well as in Indiana High School Dance Team Association competitions. Rising Star Vocal Competition
Do you have what it takes to be a Rising Star? Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue, 507 N. Union St., will hold a Rising Star Vocal Competition, and video auditions will be accepted through April 30. This event will feature three rounds of elimination competition on May 30, June 13, and June 27, with the finalists competing on July 18 for the top prize of $500. There will be hundreds of dollars in other prizes awarded to competitors. To enter, submit a video audition featuring your solo singing performance of no more than three minutes. It can be a capella or with accompaniment. The music can be original or a cover. The video should be submitted to info@rhinehall.com. It is free to submit an audition. AMVETS PTSD 5K Run/Walk
AMVETS Post 27 will hold a PTSD Awareness 5K Run/Walk on Sat., June 7, beginning at the Russiaville Town Hall, 250 N. Union St., Russiaville. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m., and the event starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $25 per runner. Register by April 30 to receive a free t-shirt. Runners ages 12 and under are free. All proceeds will go to counseling services and supplies. From May 1-15, the Kokomo Humane Society will Spring into love with reduced adoption rates. Dogs can be adopted for $100, while cats are available for $30. Puppies and kittens are not included in this effort.

CrisisReady Howard County
Summer heat is coming. Are you prepared? Join the Howard County Health Department on Thu., May 1, and learn how to stay cool, even when the power is out. Learn who is most at risk of suffering heat-related illnesses, as well as what signs to look for and how to respond. This educational session will take place at the Century Villa Community Room, 705 N. Meridian St., Greentown, from 6:30-8 p.m. Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants. After the presentation, receive your CPR certification (BLS) while learning how to apply rescue breaths, compressions, and how to use an AED. CPR is a life-saving first aid skill. There is not an age limit, but participants must be able to pass a written test and skills check. Registration is required for this portion of the event. Teen Summer Reading Program
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold its Teen Summer Reading Program May 1-30. During the program, several special events will be held.

Union St., to demonstrate egg candling: using a bright light source behind the egg to show details through the shell. The event, designed for children ages 3-13, will take place Fri., May 2, from 4-5 p.m.
The Circus is Coming to Town
The Kokomo Art Association is proud to host the International Circus Museum. The opening reception is Friday, May 2, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at Artworks, 210 N. Main St. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. This exhibit will include silent auction items and circus prints that can be purchased. Some of the pieces exhibited have not been seen by the public before. You are not going to want to miss this one-of-a-kind exhibit.
