Our fun and educational activities are designed to enhance your child’s understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The first session takes place June 23-27, with additional sessions June 30-July 3 and July 7-11. Thanks to the generous support from the United Way serving Howard and Tipton Counties, we have removed any financial obstacles for families, allowing local kids ages 7-12 to simply enjoy a week of STEM activities each day from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Spots are limited per session and there is a limit of 1 session per child. Kids Safety Day
Bring the whole family to Foster Park on Sun., June 22, to experience Kids Safety Day. Organized by Kokomo Firefighters Local 396, this event will run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., featuring a raffle for a boys’ and girls’ bicycle, free bicycle helmets while supplies last, face painting, and more. Explore emergency vehicles. Experience the Kokomo Fire Department’s Smoke House. And take the Junior Firefighter Challenge. This event takes place through a partnership with Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Ascension St. Vincent, StatFlight, Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union, and the City of Kokomo.

YMCA STEM Camp
Summer STEM Camp at Camp Tycony begins this week with fun and educational activities designed to enhance children’s understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Thanks to generous support from the United Way Serving Howard and Tipton Counties, there is no charge for this camp. Registration is open now, and spots are limited. Children may attend one session. Adult Summer Reading Program
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold its annual Adult Summer Reading Program through July 11. Themed “Color Our World,” the program invites you to employ your creativity in a variety of artistic activities as you read. Sign up, receive a reading log. Check out books and turn in your registration sheets to get summer started right! Win fantastic prizes by just reading for two hours. Prizes are awarded for up to 10 hours of reading, and whenever you visit the library to borrow books. Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., June 23. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.
Reach Youth Summer Program
Looking for a summer program for the kids while they’re out of school? Turning Point will offer a Reach Youth program, Monday through Friday, through July 25 at its Reach Youth Office, 216 W. Walnut St. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day, kids will experience educational trips, sports and recreation, social enrichment, arts and crafts, relationship building, and free lunch. Sew Much
Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., June 23, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sewing machines provided. This event takes place at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road.
Preschool Programs at Greentown Library
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will offer a variety of programs throughout the summer for preschoolers. Register for these sessions by calling 765-628-3534. On Mondays in June, enjoy Babes in Story Land from 11-11:30 a.m. This program is designed for children ages 0-2. Every Tuesday in June from 10:30-11:30 a.m. will bring Story Hour for children ages 4-5. On Thursdays in June from 11-11:30 a.m., relive your favorite Mother Goose tales with your 3-year-olds. On Mon., June 30, get messy with your preschoolers as you paint as 4th of July t-shirt, beginning at 11 a.m. On Tue., July 1, at 11 a.m., it’s time for your little ones to make friends and explore color. On Thu., July 3, Wrangler and Friends visit the library at 11 a.m. to show how much Wrangler loves color.
Library Carnival
Step right up to the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., On Mon., June 23, for an afternoon of fun, games, and tasty popcorn! From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., no tickets will be needed to play every game at the most magical library around. This program is designed for children ages 3-13.
Recovery Café
Turning Point – A System of Care offers the Recovery Café, a time to connect with love, show respect, cultivate compassion, practice forgiveness, encourage growth, and to give something back. KPRD Recreation Adventure
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold its Recreation Adventure Program at Highland, Bon Air, and Mohr parks through July 8. On Monday through Friday each week, from noon until 5 p.m., staff will be on hand at each park to offer leadership and organized games and sports for children, who may come and go on their own. Playgrounds will be supervised during these times. The staff also will offer arts and crafts, games, picnics, storytelling, and on Fridays they will offer special crafts. The cost of crafts will be $1 or less.
Sharpie Art at the Greentown Library
Throughout June, the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold special programming each Monday from 2-3 p.m. On Mon., June 23, discover the art of Sharpie creations. Learn to use Sharpie markers and alcohol to design unique, one-of-a-kind accessories.
Adult Technology Camp
Join the Digital Den at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library on Mon., June 23, from 3-4:30 p.m. for a weekly class on all of the basics for technology in 2025. Also, learn how to stay safe online. Super Explorers Camp
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will offer its Super Explorers and Junior Super Explorers camps this summer. Super Explorers Camp for ages 9-11 takes place June 23-27. Registration is open now, and the cost is $30 per child. Visit the parks department office in Highland Park to register.

Free Summer Food Bags
This summer, all Tipton County families with kids under age 17 can register to pick up a free weekly food bag. Through Aug. 2, the bags will be available at the Tipton County Family Resource Center, 3021 W. Old St. (Ind. 28), as well as the Boys and Girls Club, and the Love Bug Café, 222 S. Independence St. The pick-up times are Mondays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Each bag includes shelf-stable, kid-friendly food items along with a voucher for hot food from The Love Bug Café. Northwestern Schools Summer Meals
Northwestern School Corp. will offer a summer meal program, free to all friends ages 18 and under. Meal pick-up will be available at Howard Elementary School, 3526 N, CR 300 E, at Door 2, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday. The last day of distribution will be July 15. Summer Lunch Program
The Kokomo Housing Authority, Bridgeway Church, United Way Serving Howard and Tipton Counties, the Howard County Health Department, the Center Township Trustee’s Office, Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union, Northview Church, and Crossroads Community Church have collaborated to launch the Howard County Summer Lunch Program. Each Wednesday through July 23, all students from Howard County are eligible to receive a hot meal from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Bon Air Park, Garden Square Apartments, and Pine Valley Apartments. They also can receive a grab-n-go bag of food during each event. If there are hot meals still available at the end of each event, adults may purchase a hot meal for $5. On July 2, dive into the MESStival and leave with a messy masterpiece of your own. On July 9, design a one-of-a-kind paper collage placemat using paper scraps. Café Wednesdays
Welcome Table, a new Christian community will hold Café Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. at the Starbucks next to the Markland Mall. Kokomo Park Band Concert

Each Friday at 1 p.m. through early July, the library will feature special programming. On June 27, declare a Color War! Meet on the Comet Trail near the T-ball field to jog through rainbow clouds, then cool off with a splash on the library lawn. On July 11, it’s time to Taste the rainbow, wrapping up the reading program with rainbow-themed snacks.
Weekly Produce Pantry
Tzion Food Pantry, 614 W. Monroe St., holds a weekly produce food pantry every Friday from 1-3 p.m. Bring your own bags or boxes to take home your produce.
The Day the Crayons Took Over

KHS Class of ’85 Reunion
The Kokomo High School Class of 1985 will hold its 40th Class Reunion on June 27-29. The reunion weekend will start with a meet and greet at the Alliance Event Venue, 1510 S. Rising Star Vocal Competition

“Dream Big” Summer Drama Camp
The Kokomo Wildkats Theater Department will present the “Dream Big” 2025 Summer Drama Camp, June 30-July 3. The camp takes place at Kokomo High School. Enter through Door 47. Yoga in the Park
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department welcomes back Yoga in the Park, featuring 11 free yoga sessions in three different public parks. The sessions are open to all skill levels and are totally free to the public. Classes will take place in Jackson Morrow Park at the shelter from 6-7 p.m. on Sat., July 12, Aug. 9, and Sept. 20. Highland Park will host classes at the Earthen Stage from 8-9 a.m. on Sat., July 19, and Aug. 2. Lupus Awareness Ride
Milwaukee Iron Motorcycle Club will hold a Lupus Awareness Ride and Show on Sat., June 28, at its headquarters, 111 E. Monroe St. Gates open at noon, and kickstands go up at 1 p.m. After the ride, there will be a bike show, food, live music by Live/Wire, raffles, and more. Cost is $10 per person. All proceeds will be donated to local resident Myia Downhour, who currently struggles with medical bills related to treating the disease.
Plein Air Exhibition
The Kokomo Art Center, 525 W. Ricketts St., features the paintings created during the Plein Air Paint Out on June 6-7. Works depict scenes of downtown Kokomo during the Strawberry Festival and in Highland Park. The exhibition will remain on display through June 28. The art center is open from 1-4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Welcome Table Worship Café
The Welcome Table Worship Café, an informal, weekly worship gathering, takes place each Saturday. Share food and worship while inviting, welcoming, including, and valuing God’s beloved children at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, at 4 p.m. each Saturday. On June 28, the Worship Café will take place at Big Ben Coffee at the intersection of Jefferson and Philips streets.
Family Movie Night
Join the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department on Sat., June 28, for a special Family Movie Night in Foster Park. Gather around the Arts Pavilion for a screening of the original “How to Train Your Dragon,” beginning at 9:30 p.m. This movie night is free and open to the public.
