Family Farm Adventures
The Kendall Family Farm Adventures Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch will open Fridays from 5-9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12-6 p.m. through Oct. 29. KHS Homecoming Food Truck Tailgate
Join Kokomo High School for some pre-game fun on Fri., Sept. 29, from 5:30-7 p.m. before the Homecoming football game at Walter Cross Field, 2501 S. Berkley Road. A variety of food trucks will be located on the east side of the high school.
Northwestern v. Western Food Drive
Northwestern and Western high schools will compete in a food drive with the help of Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union on Fri., Sept. 29. This friendly competition aims to fill trucks from McGonigal GMC with canned food items. Each school will have a truck to fill, with the proceeds going to the pantry of Jackson Street Commons, a program of the Family Service Association of Howard County that provides permanent housing and supportive services to homeless veterans. The drop-off location will be Tiger Field at Northwestern High School prior to the 7 p.m. football game between the two schools.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The Alzheimer’s Association will hold its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser on Sat., Sept. 30, in Foster Park from 9 a.m. until noon. There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising requirement, but all participants are encouraged to raise funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support and to advance research toward methods of prevention, treatment, and a cure. Parade of Homes

FCA Golf Outing

It’s a Wonderful Life Auditions
Kokomo Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its next production, “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play,” on Sun., Oct. 1, and Mon., Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the KCT Warehouse, 722 N. McCann St. This unique production features a dedicated cast of at least five talented "radio actors" – two women and three men – who skillfully portray approximately 40 characters from the heartwarming story of "It's a Wonderful Life." Additionally, a live sound effects person (foley artist) will be on stage, creating all the captivating soundscapes that enhance the audience's experience. This live production also calls for roles for an on-stage announcer and a stage manager. The number of radio actors may vary depending on the talent pool during auditions, but versatility is key, as each radio actor will be responsible for voicing multiple characters throughout the performance. Just like in an authentic 1940s radio program, the radio actors will have their scripts in hand, immersing the audience in a nostalgic journey back in time. Performance dates are December 1-3. A script is on reserve at the downtown branch of the Kokomo Howard County Public Library for anyone wishing to review it in advance.
Goodfellows Sign-Up
Applications for the 2023 Goodfellows Christmas program will be available online from Oct. 1-31 at www.goodfellowskokomo.org. Submit application as soon as possible. All communication concerning your application will be by email, including approval, denial, and if any other additional information or documents are needed for the process. Make sure your application is completed in full. Any application that is not correctly completed or is missing documents will be denied. You may be asked to submit additional information for your application. You will have seven days from the date of the email to provide the requested information, or your application will be disqualified. No applications will be accepted after Oct. 31 for any circumstance. For questions, feel free to check out the FAQ section of the Goodfellows website. Candidate Forum
In advance of the Nov. 7 general election, the Kokomo Tribune, League of Women Voters of the Howard County Area, and the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum at IU Kokomo Kresge Auditorium, 2300 S. Washington St. on Mon., Oct. 2. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a reception for candidates in all races, opposed and unopposed. Carver Youth Basketball
The Carver Community Center’s Youth Basketball League will begin taking registrations on Mon., Oct.2. The cost is $90 for individual players or $450 for teams. More than 40 vendors will be on site with hand-made crafts and direct sales items at the Rush to Russiaville Arts and Crafts Show on Sat., Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event takes place at the Russiaivlle Lions Club, 555 N. Liberty St., and the Jeff Stout Community Center, 650 N. West St. Food trucks will also be accessible from breakfast through lunch. Alpaca Farm Open House
Join Heritage Farm, 4175 N, County Road 1200 W, for a free, fun-filled, family-friendly, autumn day with the alpacas during its open farm event on Sat., Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. See and interact with more than 50 alpacas, including six babies (crias). Watch alpaca fiber spinning demonstrations. Create an alpaca craft. Participate in the Alpaca Olympics. Enjoy a tractor-drawn wagon ride.
