Digital Den on the Road
Father’s Day is coming soon! Nothing says “I love you” more than a homemade gift. The Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Digital Den will have the Cricut ready to make all sorts of fun cards at Sun King Kokomo, 500 N. Buckeye St., on Sun., June 11, from 1-4 p.m. This event is designed for all ages.
MONDAY
Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic
Registrations for the annual Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic will take place on Mon., June 12, from 8 a.m. until noon. The first 130 kids between the ages of 6 and 15 may be registered at a cost of $25 per child. Registration will take place at the former Kokomo Event and Conference Center, 1500 N. Reed Road. The clinic will take place on July 17, 18, 20, 27, and 27 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Kokomo High School, 2501 S. Berkley Road. The tournament will take place July 29 at Kokomo Reservoir Park, 100 North, 500 East, from 7 a.m. until noon. Participants will receive a t-shirt. Rods, reels, and other fishing items will be donated to the kids.
STEM Camp
Applications for the NIPSCO STEM Camp are now being accepted! This specialty camp focuses on the STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math. Campers participate in a variety of fun (and educational!) activities - from making pizza box solar ovens to designing hovercrafts. The NIPSCO STEM Camp is for ages 7-12 and will run in three weeklong sessions: June 12-16, June 19-23, and June 26-30, 2023. Giving Week Collection
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will observe Giving Week by accepting donations of office, school, and art supplies from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at any library location from June 12-16. The donations ill be redistributed to our patrons during the library’s Back to School BINGO program in August and September.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., June 12. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblngs are welcome to join also. There will be no meeting on June 19.
Pop Into Summer Popsicle Party
Welcome summer with balloon games, popsicle-themed crafts, and a frozen treat at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., on Mon., June 12, from 10-11 a.m. This event is designed for children ages 3 and up.
Sew Much
Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., June 12, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and from 4-7 p.m. Sewing machines provided. This event takes place at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road.
YMCA Swim Lessons
Summer swim lessons and camps start Mon., June 12. It's pool season already so be sure to sign up your child for a swim camp or swim lessons! Swimming is a life skill, and the YMCA has been teaching children and adults how to swim for over 150 years, helping them to be safe in and around water. Your child will gain confidence around water while making friends and having the time of their life. Dive in and register today! Recreation Adventure Program
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold its daily Adventure Program, Mondays through Fridays from 12-5 p.m. at Highland Park, Mohr Park, and Bon Air Park. Supervisors are present to offer children leadership and organized games and sports, not to babysit. Children are free to come and go on their own. Creation Care Electric Vehicles 101
With the present and future growth of the electric vehicle (EV) industries in the area, many have questions and concerns about EVs. The Kokomo Area Interfaith Creation Care has invited Richard Steiner, a well-recognized expert on EVs in the central Indianapolis area, to speak on Mon., June 12, at 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 3401 S. Dixon Road. Steiner works for Waverly Electronics and is on the board of Hoosier EVA which was organized in 2010 to promote and educate the public regarding the benefits of electric vehicles. There will be opportunities to ask questions and voice concerns. All interested individuals are welcome to come to the meeting.. Kokomo Area Creation Care meetings explore the various ways we can be better stewards of the Earth. Fellowship and refreshments are available at 6:45 p.m.

Community CareMobile
Community Howard Regional Health offers a Community CareMobile Walk-In Clinic Wed., June 14, from 9 a.m. until noon and 12:30-4 p.m. at Walgreens, 2349 E. Markland Ave. No appointment needed. Services offered include adult and pediatric sick visits, annual wellness exams for adults, COVID, flu, and strep testing, disease management for adults, flu shots for adults, and specialty care referrals. The Community CareMobile Clinic is a full-service primary care office on wheels, complete with a private exam room and standard testing and lab equipment. Patients are seen by a nurse practitioner and registered nurse. Patient records are securely documented in Epic, and results are available via MyChart. Standard primary care billing rates apply. Financial assistance is available for those without insurance.
Legal Aid Clinic
Need Pro bono representation? Have questions for an attorney? Apply with Pro Bono Indiana, Inc. to get the legal assistance you need at no cost to you! Community First Free Shred Day
Community First Bank of Indiana (CFB) will host a Free Shred Day open to the community on Wed., June 14, at its Hoffer Street branch, 1308 E. Hoffer St. All are welcome to drive through the branch parking lot between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to drop off boxes of documents to be securely shredded with PROSHRED® Security. There is a limit of five boxes to be shredded per vehicle, and the event will end once the shred truck is full. All documents will be shredded on-site and 100 percent of the paper is recycled and eventually made into other paper products. Three-ring binders cannot be shredded. Donations will be welcome to support Bridges Outreach, which exists to bridge churches, schools, and communities through programming that feeds, tutors and mentors at-risk youth. Water Spray

Park Band Summer Concerts
The Kokomo Park Band continues its free Summer Concert season on Wed., June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Highland Park. Conducted by Jay Gephardt the June 14 side-by-side concert performance is themed “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and is sponsored by Community First Bank of Indiana. The band performs each Wednesday in the summer.

Art Camp
Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library for Art Camp on Thu., June 15, from 10-11 a.m. at the library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr. Art Camp offers artistic adventures and celebrations of creativity, friendship, and fun! Community Expo and Mobile Food Pantry
Center Township of Howard County will hold a community expo and food pantry on Thu., June 15, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. At the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. Visit with community service providers beginning at 11 a.m. Bring a laundry basket or box to carry food home with you starting at noon. This will be a walk-up distribution.
Foam Happy Party
Play and dance in several feet of slip-sliding bubbly suds created by the Foam Daddy Cannon at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road, on Thu., June 15, from 2-3:15 p.m. Swimsuit or light clothing and water shoes are suggested. Don’t forget to bring a towel! The event will be followed by a Foam Happy Party for dogs. Kingdom Come Festival
The Kingdom Come Festival, a free, multi-day, Christian rock festival will take place at the Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization’s Healing Field, 8313 E, 400 S, on State Road 26 on June 15-17. Free admission and free camping. The Kingdom Come Festival is Kokomo’s largest annual Christian event and features some of the hottest and rising Christian bands from all over the country. Humane Society Shoe Drive
Get started on your spring cleaning by gathering your gently worn, used, and new shoes. Every pair you donate will help the Kokomo Humane Society raise funds for its Pet Assistance Program. This shoe drive will run through June 15. Additional information, such as drop-off locations, will be announced soon. This program helps provide community pets with vaccines, flea prevention, id tags, microchips, and more. All donated shoes will be redistributed to microenterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for-profit social enterprise, and used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses.

Whiskey, Wheels and Watches
The first Whiskey, Wheels, and Watches Event arrives in downtown Kokomo on Sat., June 17. Hosted by Palmer’s Jewelry, this one-of-a-kind Father’s Day celebration will take place along Main and Sycamore streets from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Enjoy a cruise-in and car show throughout the day. Garden Stroll
The 22nd Annual Master Gardener Garden Stroll will take place on Sat., June 17, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Heritage Farm Events, 4175 N, 1200 W, Flora Ind. Tickets are $10. Creature Feature
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will host a Creature Feature with the Take Flight! Birds of Prey Show at the Kirkendall Nature Center in Jackson Morrow Park, 4200 S. Park Road, on Sat., June 17, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This Informative and interactive event will feature live creatures and is free and open to the public. Juneteenth Summer Celebration
The Carver Community Center and the Kokomo Housing Authority will host Kokomo’s annual Juneteenth Celebration on Sat., June 17, from noon until 11 p.m. in Foster Park. A hip hop mic battle will take place during the event, beginning at 2 p.m, hosted by John “Uncle Boogie” Grant. Cash prizes and plaques will be awarded to the top two finishers in the hip hop battle. Juneteenth with the Historical Society

Cowboy Church
On the third Saturday of each month, Fairview Baptist Church holds Cowboy Church. It’s a combination of Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Hymns and a lot of serious goofing off. The next Cowboy Church will take place Sat., June 17, at 5 p.m. Fairview Baptist Church is located at 2108 E Vaile Ave. behind the Walmart Plaza.

Free Mammograms
If you are uninsured or experiencing financial hardship, Advanced Medical Imaging is providing free mammograms to local women in need. Call 765-454-9729 to request an appointment. The service will continue as long as funding lasts. Also, save the date on Fri., Sept. 22, for AMI’s 2023 Breast in Show fundraising event, which underwrites the free mammograms.
Sunday in the Park Car Show
The Kokomo Automotive Museum will hold its annual Sunday in the Park Car Show on Father’s Day, Sun., June 18, in Highland Park. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries. The event will include music, door prizes, food vendors, plenty of shade, and open parking. Details to follow soon.
Youth Multicultural Rhythm Workshop
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a Youth Multicultural Rhythm Workshop June 19-21, from 3:30-5 p.m. each day at the Second Missionary Baptist Church Activity Center, 819 N. Widows’ Purse Worship Celebration

Dog Days of Summer
The Kokomo Humane Society will host a Dog Days of Summer fair on Sat., July 8, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Humane Society “fairgrounds,” 729 E. Hoffer St. There will be kids games, fantastic food, and spectacular canine performances. Tickets for the event Are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Pets attend free. Proceeds from the event will support the humane society’s pet assistance program. There will be vendors, a 50/50 raffle, and activities for pets, kids, and adults.
