Pastel Sessions

The Greentown Main Street Association presents Music at the Fairgrounds, a weekly concert series which takes place in front of the Community Building at the Howard County 4H Fairgrounds. Koontz Golf Outing
The annual Deputy Carl A. Koontz Golf Outing will take place on Fri., Aug. 11, at Wildcat Creek golf course. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration is $75 per player or $300 per team and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and range balls. Lunch is also included. Ride of Hope
The 2023 Ride of Hope, sponsored by Turning Point - System of Care and Tyler's Triumphs, will take place on Sat., Aug. 12. The ride is held to raise awareness and support those struggling with substance abuse and addiction. The cost is $30 per rider and $10 per passenger. Bikes and Jeeps are welcome. World Elephant Day

The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will host a Creature Feature with Squishy and Friends Interactive Reptile Show at the Kirkendall Nature Center in Jackson Morrow Park, 4200 S. The Reveal at the Riverwalk

From Hawks to Hummingbirds
Get an up-close look at Indiana’s birds with Indiana University Kokomo’s KEY Academy. This two-day program will explore Indiana’s bird species, from raptors and hawks to hummingbirds. PAL Football and Cheerleading
The Police Athletic League is accepting registrations for fall football and cheerleading. Registration is open until Aug. 13 and can be completed by visiting www.kokomopalsports.com. Payment is required at the time of registration. In-person sign-ups will be taken at the PAL Field. 3520 W. Boulevard St., every Wednesday in July and August from 10 a.m. until noon. There will be flag football and cheerleading for kids in grades K-2 and tackle football and cheerleading for kids in grades 3-6. Americans and the Holocaust Focus Groups
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library is proud to be one of 50 U.S. libraries selected to host Americans and the Holocaust: A Traveling Exhibition for Libraries from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Participate in an upcoming focus group about the exhibition and receive a $50 gift card to a bookstore. Focus groups will be conducted by Audience Focus and will be offered both online and at the library’s, main branch, 220 N. Union St. Everyone who participates will receive a gift card. Bridges Outreach Resumes
Bridges Outreach is excited to launch its 20th year in Kokomo Middle and High schools. After-school sessions will begin on Aug. 14 at Bon Air and Central middle schools and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sessions begin on Aug. 15 at Maple Crest and BTC (high school) and will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Bridges Outreach offers fields trips, snacks, life lessons, games, and homework help. YMCA Swim Lessons
Back to school and back to the pool! The Kokomo Family YMCA’s fall swim lessons start on Aug. 14. Howard County Hall of Legends
The Howard County Historical Society will induct its latest class into the Howard County Hall of Legends on Thu., Aug. 17. Inductees this year include Meta Christy, Ben Cotner, Rachel Jenkins, Rev. Robert A. Lee, Dr. Lance Washington, and Don Moore, who will join a remarkable group of people and organizations with at least one thing in common: a commitment to improving life for others in Howard County, the state of Indiana, and nationwide. Winding Creek Bluegrass Festival
The Winding Creek Bluegrass Festival will take place Aug. 17-20 at 9912 W, County Road 100 S, Russiaville. Tickets are available now by visiting www.windingcreekbluegrass.com. Amateur Golf Tournament
The 2023 Klub Kokomo and Carver Community Center Amateur Golf Tournament will be held Aug-18-20 at Chippendale Golf Course. This 36-hole medal play event will be flighted after the first round and is limited to the first 144 golfers registered. Greentown 175th Anniversary Celebration
The Town of Greentown will celebrate its 175th year with two days of anniversary events on Fri., Aug. 25, and Sat., Aug. 26. The event begins on Friday at 3 p.m. as vendors open for business along North Meridian Street. The Medicinal Bluegrass Band will take the main stage at 5 p.m., followed by the Southern Rock Authority at 8 p.m. On Saturday, things kick off with a community prayer breakfast at Blondie’s Cookies on Main Street at 8 a.m. Vendors open for business at 10 a.m. The anniversary parade begins at 11 a.m. The Kokomo Park Band and Wrangler and Friends will entertain at 1 p.m., and the American Legion will conduct the Presentation of Colors at the Greentown Historical Society at 1:45 p.m. At 2 p.m., there will be an ice cream social and the opening of the town’s time capsule while Kokomo Men of Note perform. The City of Kokomo and the Kokomo Native Initiative are proud to announce the first-ever pow-wow in Kokomo. Drums Along the Wildcat will take place on Sat., Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. until dark in Foster Park. The event is free to the public. Glo in the ‘Mo
Here we GLO again! Glo in the 'Mo early bird registration is now open! The Kokomo Family YMCA’s family-friendly, neon night run is happening on Friday, Oct. 6. The party starts during First Friday outside of the Y with glow in the dark powder, glow sticks, a DJ pumping out tunes, and a foam party! Run or walk the scenic course that leads through downtown, winding through Foster Park along the Walk of Excellence trail and around Kokomo Beach.
