Kitten Shower
The Kokomo Humane Society will hold a Kitten Shower Mother-Daughter Brunch on Sun., May 18, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Elite Event Center, 2820 S. The Yellow Boat
Curtain Call Theatre for Children will present The Yellow on Sun., May 18, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The performances will take place at Curtain Call Studio, 2114 N. Armstrong St. Tickets are $10 in advance by reserving them online at www.kcctc.org. Tickets will be $15 at the door. Seats are reserved, and space is limited. The story of The Yellow Boat is a glorious affirmation of a child’s life and the strength and courage of all children, based on the true story of Benjamin Saar, a child born with congenital hemophilia who died in 1987 at the age of 8 from AIDS-related complications. This performance is recommended for parents, families, adults, and children ages 8 and older.
KSO Diamond Jubilee
The Kokomo Symphony Orchestra will celebrate 75 years – its Diamond Jubilee – on Sun., May 18, at 2 p.m. The orchestra will team up with the Kokomo Civic Theatre to present a Broadway celebration, featuring music from across the theatre’s 75-year history. This special event takes place at Havens Auditorium on the IU Kokomo campus, 2300 S. See Jupiter and Mars
The Indiana University Kokomo Observatory, 2660 S. Washington St., will host its final free open house of the academic year on Sun., May 18, at 8 p.m. Join Patrick Motl, dean of the School of Sciences and professor of physics, to discuss the recent observation made by the James Webb Space Telescope of potential oceanic life on planet K2-18b. After the presentation, stargazers may have the opportunity to see Jupiter and Mars and other interstellar objects through the observatory’s two telescopes.

Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., May 19. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.
Meditation Mondays

Homeschool Book Club

Greentown Historical Society Exhibition
The Greentown Historical Society, 103 E. Main St., Greentown, presents a new exhibition commemorating the 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Greentown and Howard County. The society is open every Saturday and Monday from 1-4 p.m. Tours may be arranged at other times by texting 765-626-0164.
Mocktail Monday
Mocktail Monday for Mental Health is an electrifying evening, filled with music, food, and amazing drinks. Witness the spirited rivalry among local bars vying to craft the ultimate mocktail masterpiece. Each establishment is paired with a community leader to compete for "People's Choice," "Best Mocktail," and "Most Creative Booth." Tickets for $40 and include mocktail tastings from your favorite bartenders in Kokomo, music, and hors d'oeuvres. ‘The Play that Goes Wrong’ Auditions
Kokomo Civic Theatre will hold auditions for the first play of its 2025-26 season – “The Play that Goes Wrong” – on May 20-21 at 6:30 p.m. at the KCT Warehouse, 722 N. McCann St. There are roles for six men and two women. The production also will require a large technical crew. Show dates are July 11-13. CrisisReady Howard County
Summer heat is coming. Are you prepared? Join the Howard County Health Department on Thu., May 22, and learn how to stay cool, even when the power is out. Learn who is most at risk of suffering heat-related illnesses, as well as what signs to look for and how to respond. This educational session will take place at the Russiaville Lions Club, 555 N. Liberty St., Russiaville, from 6:30-8 p.m. Free preparedness items and resources will be available to participants. After the presentation, receive your CPR certification (BLS) while learning how to apply rescue breaths, compressions, and how to use an AED. CPR is a life-saving first aid skill. There is not an age limit, but participants must be able to pass a written test and skills check. Registration is required for this portion of the event.
