Landing on the Moon and Mars is tricky. In this challenge, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library invites you to use their supplies to design and build a lander that will protect two astronauts when they touch down. Kokomo Community Concerts

SNAP Enrollment Event
The Howard County Food Access Alliance will hold a SNAP enrollment event on Tue., Oct. 10, from 3-6 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St. In partnership with Food Finders Food Bank, the alliance will serve a hearty meal, provided by Food 4 Souls. Cosmic Adventures Virtual Reality

Teens’ Choice Book Club
Teens meet up once a month at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s main branch, 220 N. Union St., to discuss a book with their peers. Each month will have a theme. Bona Vista’s Early Childhood Program will hold its second annual Trunk or Treat evening on Thu., Oct. 12, from 6-7 p.m. at Bona Vista, 1220 E. Laguna St. This free event is open to the entire community.
Free Halloween Costumes
The Kokomo Bobkats and the Carver Community Center will team up on Thu., Oct. 12, to provide free Halloween costumes while supplies last. The event takes place from 6-9 p.m. at the Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St. More than 500 costumes will be available, including Marvel and DC superheroes, Trolls, Star Wars, Lego, Mario, ninjas, robots, unicorns, mummies, scary costumes, Disney characters, astronauts, and animals. All sizes are available for all ages while supplies last.
Howard County Reads: Nikki Erlick

Ivy Tech’s Dueling Pianos
Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo will be rocking on Fri., Oct. 13, when “Dueling Pianos” returns to help celebrate the college’s 60th birthday and raise funds to support Ivy Tech students throughout the six Hoosier counties it serves. With the musical theme of “Education is Key,” the evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Hingst Hall on the Ivy Tech Kokomo campus, 1815 E. Morgan St., and will feature “Dueling Pianos,” dinner, and a variety of activities to raise funds for scholarships. Howard County Prevent Child Abuse will hold a Halloween Hustle 5K Run/Walk on Sat., Oct. 14. The event will start and end at Sun King Kokomo, 500 N. Travel back to eerie Whitechapel district of London, circa 1888, with Howard County Historical Society’s annual From Dark Pages theatrical tour inside the historical Seiberling Mansion! The Queen calls upon literary legends, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes, and their crew of time-traveling investigators (that’s you!) to help capture Jack the Ripper. Kokomo Symphony’s 50th Season
The Kokomo Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 50th season this year, and season tickets are now available. Support the symphony by purchasing tickets now. The first concert – Golden Gala – takes place Sat., Oct. 21. Season tickets are $80 for adults, $75 for seniors, and $5 for college students. Students in K-12 and young children are admitted free of charge. Buy tickets before the first concert to save $20.
