Easter Egg Hunt
First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2000 W. Jefferson St., will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sun., April 13, at 3 p.m. Bring your own basket to collect eggs. There will be a prize drawing and free books to give away, as well as a celebration after the hunt. Admission is free and open to all families with children in 5th grade or under.
Carver Travel Hoops Try-Outs
Carver Community Center is hosting tryouts for its 5th and 6th grade travel basketball teams! The tryouts will take place Sun., April 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Carver Center, 1030 N. Purdum St. Carver will organize two teams. This is your chance to develop your skills, compete at a higher level, and face off against some of the best young talent from across the state. Players will be asked to participate in four travel tournaments. There will be a fee to participate, but all financial details and expectations will be clearly shared once the team is selected. Dark Energy at the Observatory
How is dark energy expanding the universe? Learn more about efforts to understand and measure its effects at Indiana University Kokomo’s free Observatory open house Sun., April 13, beginning at 8 p.m. Patrick Motl, dean of the School of Sciences and professor of physics, will discuss recent results from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) experiment, which indicates a variable dark energy and has measured distances to millions of galaxies. After the presentation, stargazers may be able to see Jupiter and Mars as well as the spring highlights – the spring galaxies in Leo, Coma and Virgo – through the Observatory’s telescopes through 10 p.m., weather permitting. The Observatory is at 2660 S. Washington St. Free parking is available on campus.

Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., April 14. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.
Monday Fun Day
Story time is a valuable opportunity for your child to develop essential literacy, social, and creative skills. The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a Monday Fun Day Story Time on Mon., April 14, from 10-11 a.m. at its Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., for children ages 3-5.
Sew Much
Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., April 14, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sewing machines provided. Recovery Café
Turning Point – A System of Care offers the Recovery Café, a time to connect with love, show respect, cultivate compassion, practice forgiveness, encourage growth, and to give something back. Kokomo Area Career Fair

Shelter Planning and Prep
When disasters strike, there’s often no time to look up what you should do. You have to know what you should do. CrisisReady Howard County will cover various sheltering scenarios on Wed., April 16, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Russiaville Lion’s Club, 555 N. Liberty St., Russiaville. Learn where to take shelter, how to seal your home from a chemical hazard, and what you should take with you when you evacuate. Plus, learn about identifying an opioid overdose and proper Narcan administration, presented by the Howard County Health Department. Senior Thesis Exhibition
Support the graduating NMAT students of Indiana University Kokomo in the Senior Thesis Exhibition. Easter Egg Hunt
The Greentown Lions Club will host an Easter Egg Hunt at the Howard County Fairgrounds on Sat., April 19. Registration for this event begins at 9:30 a.m., and the hunt begins at 10 a.m. There will be five hunts held for different age groups: 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years, and 9-10 years old. This event is open to the public.

Cowboy Church
On the third Saturday of each month, Fairview Baptist Church holds Cowboy Church. It’s a combination of Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Hymns and a lot of serious goofing off. The next Cowboy Church will take place at 5 p.m. on Sat., April 19. Fairview Baptist Church is located at 2108 E Vaile Ave. behind the Walmart Plaza.
KPRD Adult Egg Hunt
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual Adult Egg Hunt on Sat., April 19, at Jackson Morrow Park, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Wristbands will be available for purchase at 5 p.m. on the day of the hunt, but they also can be purchased now at the park office in Highland Park.
