Touch a Truck
The City of Kokomo’s Touch a truck event will take place on Sun., Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Inventrek parking lot, 700 E. Firmin St. Sensory hour is from 11 a.m. until noon. See fire trucks, police cars, lightning loaders, wheel loaders, dump trucks, and more at the event.
KCT Auditions for Christmas production
Kokomo Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its next show, “One Christmas at Evergreen Mall,” on Oct. 9-10 at 7 p.m. each evening. The auditions will be held at KCT’s warehouse, 722 N. McCann St. The 22 characters in the show are meant to be played by six actors, but KCTY may cast more. The show dates are Dec. 2-4. Make Your Own Journal
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a Make Your Own Journal event on Mon., Oct. 10, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at its main branch, 220 N. Union St., in the large group study room. Create a journal using a Japanese stab-binding technique. All supplies will be provided, but participants may bring any special paper, thread, or other items they wish to include. Drums Alive Party Beats
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a Drums Alive Party Beats session on Mon., Oct. 10, from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the library’s South branch, 1755 E. Pinterest for Genealogy
Everyone is welcome at the Howard County Genealogy Society’s event on Mon., Oct. 10, featuring Using Pinterest for Genealogy. The event runs from 6-8 p.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Main Branch, 220 N. Union St., in Meeting Rooms A and B. Participants will discuss how the website Pinterest can be a valuable resource for finding genealogy ideas, data, forms, and hints. The genealogy society also will hold a short business meeting at the event.
Next Chapter Book Club
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a meeting of the Next Chapter Book Club on Tue., Oct. 11, from 10-11 a.m. at the library’s Main branch, 220 N. Main Street Methodist Fall Bazaar
Main Street United Methodist Church, 830 S. Main St., will hold its annual Fall Bazaar on Thu., Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will include Pantry Shelf homemade candies, homemade goods, Main Street dry noodles, and Attic Treasures crafts. Blanket Fort Fun
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold an evening of Inside Outside Camping, featuring Blanket Fort Fun on Thu., Oct. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the library’s South branch, 1755 E. Pumpkin painting at Jackson Morrow
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold pumpkin painting at Jackson Morrow Park in the Kirkendall Nature Center on Sat., Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Free pumpkins will be available while supplies last, but participants can bring their own pumpkins if preferred.
Discussion on Dolby
The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will hold a discussion about Howard County historic trailblazer Mattie Cunningham Dolby on Sat., Oct. 15, in the main branch meeting rooms A and B, 220 N. Union St., from 2-3 p.m. Professor Nicholas Patler from Harvard Extension School will lead the discussion on Dolby, who is known as being the first student to enroll at and graduate from Manchester College. She also was the first woman to be installed as a minister in the Church of the Brethren.
Jeepers Creepers Jeep Jam
The Jeepers Creepers and Jeep Jam will be held on Sat., Oct. 15, from 4-8 p.m. in the parking lot on Superior Street next to the downtown fire station behind the Excel Center. This is the rain make-up date for Jammin’ for the Camp. Costume contests will be held for Jeeps and their drivers. Fundraising from the t-shirt sales and a raffle will support the Hoosier Burn Camp This event is free for all Jeeps to participate and is open to the public.
Riverwalk Concert Series
The Riverwalk Concert Series continues on Sat., Oct. 15, with the Andrew Fisher Quartet and The RC Trio performing. Live music commences from 5-10 p.m. at the Riverwalk Stage, 307 S. Main St., behind Foxes Trail Restaurant. The concert is free and open to the public.
We Care Dance
We Care will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a dinner and dance on Sat., Oct. 15, from 6-10 p.m. at the Elite Event Center, 2820 S. Lafountain St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The dinner and dance will feature entertainment from The Time Travelers. Come dressed in fashions from your favorite era or decade. Cash bar. Camp Tycony Winter Camp
The Kokomo Family YMCA will hold a Winter Camp at Camp Tycony on weekdays from Dec. 21, 2022, until Jan. 3, 2023. Campers will spend their Winter Break participating in various activities, weather permitting, including archery, canoeing and kayaking, hiking, and sports games, along with extra-special Christmas-themed activities. From Dark Pages
The Howard County Historical Society invites the community to participate in “From Dark Pages,” a macabre fantasy set in the Seiberling Mansion, 1200 W. Sycamore St., on Oct. 21-22. Tour performances depart at 6:30, 7:40, 8:50, and 10 p.m. each evening and last approximately 50-60 minutes. Tickets include refreshments and activities in the Elliot House in addition to the theatric tour. This event is intended for participants ages 13 and up. Bona Vista all-abilities prom

The Kokomo Howard County Public Library will present a visit from author Sherri L. Smith, on Tue., Oct. 25 from 7-8 p.m. in Indiana University Kokomo’s Kresge Auditorium, 2300 S. Washington St. Smith is the author of “Flygirl” a selection in the Howard County Reads 2022 program. Carver Center’s 75th anniversary banquet

Humane Society Autumn Cat-Ch dinner
The Kokomo Humane Society will hold its Autumn Cat-Ch fundraising dinner on Sat., Oct. 29, from 6-9 p.m. at the Continental Ballroom, 920 Millbrook Lane. Admission is $60, which can be pre-paid by visiting the Kokomo Humane Society, 729 E. Hoffer St., during regular business hours. Attendees will not receive tickets this year. Instead, they will receive bid paddles after checking in. The dinner will feature New Orleans cuisine and a live dessert auction.
Trick or Treat Hours
The City of Kokomo and the towns of Greentown and Russiaville have established Trick or Treat hours across Howard County. Trick or treat will be permitted from 5-8 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 31.
Unlimited Potential Celebration
Kokomo Urban Outreach’s KUO UP Program will hold its Unlimited Potential Celebration annual fundraising dinner on Thu., Nov. 10, at Bel Air Events, 3014 S. Webster St. Help celebrate the unlimited potential of the kids in the HUO UP program. The event also will serve as a send-off to Jeff Newton as he retires from the director’s position with Kokomo Urban Outreach. Doors open at 6 p.m. The event will include a silent auction.
