Kokomo Bobkats Basketball
The Kokomo Bobkats will play a home game against the Glass City Wranglers on Sun., April 14, Kokomo Memorial Gymnasium, 200 N. Apperson Way. Game time is 3:05 p.m. Gates open one hour before tip-off. MONDAY
Hydrant Flushing in Kokomo, Russiaville
Indiana American Water will flush water mains in Kokomo and Russiaville on April 15-18 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Russiaville and beginning in Kokomo on April 22 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flushing in Kokomo should be completed by June 14. No interruptions in water service will occur. However, customers may experience a slight drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration. Customers should refrain from doing laundry during the time flushing takes place in their neighborhood. For additional information, call 800-492-8373.

Hope Springs Eternal Blood Drive

Drums Alive! Family Beats

Kokomo Young Life

PAL Spring Soccer
Registration is open now for the Police Athletic League Spring Soccer League until the end of April. Sign up now by visiting www.kokomopalsports.com. The fee is $72 and must be paid at the time of registration. In-person registration is available every Tuesday and Thursday in March and April from 10 a.m. until noon at the PAL Field, 3520 W. Boulevard St. The season will begin the first weekend of May and will run until the end of June. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, depending on the number of teams. All games and practices will take place at the PAL field. The league currently needs coaches. Those interested in serving should note this on the registration form. Age groups are 4-5, 6-8, and 9-13. Ethereal Exhibition
The Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery is accepting artists’ submission now for its upcoming Ethereal Exhibition, which will go on display from June 5-27. Art should reflect or interpret the show’s theme: Ethereal, a quality that possesses almost perfect or extremely delicate features pertaining to a spiritual realm rather than of this earth. Artists are invited to submit work that is inspired by or hold this mystical essence. Entries are due by April 17, and the entry fee is $25. Spring Book Sale
The Friends of the Library will hold its Spring Book Sale on April 19-20 at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s main branch, 220 N. Main St. On Fri., April 19, the sale will run from noon until 5 p.m. for members of the Friends of the Library only. On Sat., April 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. the sale will be open to the public. Memberships in the Friends of the Library can be purchased on the days of the sale. Memberships are $5 for the individual, $10 for a family, and $100 for a lifetime membership. Art Glass Exhibition
The Kokomo Art Association invites the community to experience the realm of art glass with the help of one of the world’s leading manufacturers, Kokomo Opalescent Glass. A curated exhibit of the processes and products created by Kokomo Opalescent Glass for the past 130 years will be on display at the Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Main St., through Sat., April 27. A special reception with the artists from Kokomo Opalescent Glass will take place on Fri., April 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Artworks Gallery. Refreshments will be served at the free event, open to the public. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.
CAM 2024 Sleepout
Coordinated Assistance Ministries (CAM), 625 N. Union St., will hold the 2024 Sleepout on Fri., April 19, from midnight until 7 a.m. The Sleepout is an exercise for youth groups, families, and others to experience what it would be like to be homeless. The event will take place in the CAM parking lot. Participants will learn about local agencies that serve the homeless. Earth Day Electronics Recycling
Stellantis’ four Kokomo-area manufacturing facilities invite the local community to celebrate Earth Day and reduce landfill waste by bringing old electronics to their Electronic Waste Recycling Day. The event will take place on April 20 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Kokomo Transmission Plant’s southwest parking lot (corner of Home and Lincoln). A variety of electronics will be accepted, including personal/office computers (no CRT televisions or monitors), consumer electronics, office equipment, small appliances (no refrigerators/freezers or washers/dryers) and telecommunications equipment.

Finding Your Native Roots
Join the Kokomo Native Initiative on Sat., April 20, for “Finding Your Native Roots,” a unique one-day opportunity for Native American residents within and around Howard County to either develop or enhance their family history and genealogy research path. The day begins at Indiana University Kokomo at 10 a.m. in Kresge Auditorium with a discussion led by Doreen Soiret, a Shawnee descendant, and Jim Lee, a member of the Shawnee Tribe. The afternoon session at 1 p.m. includes individual or guided research while exploring online genealogical and Native resource tools in the IU Kokomo library. Healthy Kids Day
The Kokomo Family YMCA, 114 N. Union St., will hold a Healthy Kids Day celebration on Sat., April 20, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Activities include: kids hip hop, an inflatable obstacle course, free haircuts, an ice cream truck, cornhole, a Pop-Up Adoption Center by the Kokomo Humane Society, a Wibit water obstacle course, face painting, and other interactive demonstrations and activities. This free event is open to the entire public.
Cowboy Church
On the third Saturday of each month, Fairview Baptist Church holds Cowboy Church. It’s a combination of Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Hymns and a lot of serious goofing off. Cass County College & Career Expo
The doors of Logansport High School’s Berry Bowl will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, for the annual Cass County College & Career Expo. The public is invited to attend the event where more than 40 central Indiana employers and 12 Indiana colleges and universities will be available to meet with prospective employees and students. Ivy Tech Community College, the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce, and Logansport High School are sponsoring the expo. The event is open to Ivy Tech students and alumni, high school students, and community members seeking part-time or full-time jobs or internship positions or interested in learning more about educational opportunities offered by colleges throughout the state of Indiana. Union St. Purdue Extension Howard County Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator Mathias Ingle will demonstrate egg candling: using a bright light source behind the egg to show details through the shell. Are you dividing huge irises, or are you tired of your houseplants and want to make a change? Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library in Russiaville, 315 Mesa Dr., on Sat., April 27, from 10 a.m. until noon for a seed and indoor and outdoor plant swap! Then, from 11 a.m. until noon, visitors can learn about composting, which reduces waste, decreases greenhouse gases, strengthens the soil, and promotes healthy plant growth. And it’s fun when you do it with one of Earth’s smallest recyclers: Worms!
Fuel Cornhole Tournament
Fuel Church, 2021 E. Markland Ave., will hold its first-ever cornhole tournament on Sat., April 27, beginning at 10 a.m. The event will include food, fun, and a ping-pong tournament as well. Registration for the cornhole tournament is $30 and can be completed by visiting www.thefuelchurch.com. Registration for the ping-pong tournament is $10. There is a buy-back option for those eliminated. All proceeds from the event with sponsor children going to church camp this summer.
