KAA Spring Art Show
The Kokomo Art Association’s 97th Annual Spring Art Show takes place now through June 1 at the Kokomo Art Center, 525 W. Ricketts St. The center is open Tue.-Sat. from 1-4 p.m. A reception for the artists will be held Sun., June 1, at 2 p.m. at the art center.
MONDAY
Adult Summer Reading Program
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold its annual Adult Summer Reading Program from June 2 through July 11. Themed “Color Our World,” the program invites you to employ your creativity in a variety of artistic activities as you read. Sign up, receive a reading log. Check out books and turn in your registration sheets to get summer started right! Win fantastic prizes by just reading for two hours. Prizes are awarded for up to 10 hours of reading, and whenever you visit the library to borrow books. Taylor Summer Food Program
The Taylor Community School Corp. will offer a summer food program from June 2-20. Meals will be free to all children aged 18 or younger with no application or proof of income needed. All meals must be eaten on-site. Adults may purchase a meal for $4. Hand Up Pantry
The Center Township Trustee’s Office has opened its Hand Up Food Pantry at the township office, 213 E. Jefferson St. The pantry is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. The goal is to serve those experiencing food insecurity. Participants must make an appointment by calling 765-452-8259. A photo ID or proof of address is required.
New Baby Bunch
Do you have a new bundle of joy? Or do you feel like you’re in the trenches of parenting? Join the New Baby Bunch for friendship, support, and to share your parenting journey with other caregivers. The group meets each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road. The next meeting is Mon., June 2. Caregivers with a baby ages birth to 12 months are welcome to participate. Older siblings are welcome to join also.
Meditation Mondays
Experience change, growth, and vitality through meditation with Raine and Sage Healing Center, 901 S. Courtland Ave. Sessions take place every first and third Monday of the month from 10-10:45 a.m. and are free to all. The next session takes place on Mon., June 2.
Popsicle and Ice Cream Party
Whether you're looking to beat the heat or just enjoy a refreshing moment, the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s popsicle/ice cream party is the perfect way to kick off the summer season. All ages are invited to participate by visiting the library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr., on Mon., June 2, from 10-11 a.m.
Reach Youth Summer Program
Looking for a summer program for the kids while they’re out of school? Turning Point will offer a Reach Youth program, Monday through Friday, from June 2 through July 25 at its Reach Youth Office, 216 W. Walnut St. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day, kids will experience educational trips, sports and recreation, social enrichment, arts and crafts, relationship building, and free lunch. Sew Much
Teens and adults can drop in to learn sewing or quilting basics or get help with their projects at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Sew Much event on Mon., June 2, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sewing machines provided. This event takes place at the library’s south branch, 1755 E. Center Road.
Preschool Programs at Greentown Library
The Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will offer a variety of programs throughout the summer for preschoolers. Register for these sessions by calling 765-628-3534. On Mondays in June, enjoy Babes in Story Land from 11-11:30 a.m., beginning June 2. This program is designed for children ages 0-2. Every Tuesday in June from 10:30-11:30 a.m. will bring Story Hour for children ages 4-5, beginning June 3. On Thursdays in June from 11-11:30 a.m., relive your favorite Mother Goose tales with your 3-year-olds, beginning June 5.
Recovery Café
Turning Point – A System of Care offers the Recovery Café, a time to connect with love, show respect, cultivate compassion, practice forgiveness, encourage growth, and to give something back. KPRD Recreation Adventure
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will hold its Recreation Adventure Program at Highland, Bon Air, and Mohr parks beginning Mon., June 2, and continuing through July 8. On Monday through Friday each week, from noon until 5 p.m., staff will be on hand at each park to offer leadership and organized games and sports for children, who may come and go on their own. Playgrounds will be supervised during these times. The staff also will offer arts and crafts, games, picnics, storytelling, and on Fridays they will offer special crafts. The cost of crafts will be $1 or less.
Painting at the Greentown Library
Throughout June, the Greentown Public Library, 421 S. Harrison St., will hold special programming each Monday from 2-3 p.m. On Mon., June 2, discover the joy of watercolor painting. Unleash your creativity in the class, perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
YMCA Summer Camp 2025
Registration is now open for the Kokomo Family YMCA’s Summer Camp at Camp Tycony. Finalize your summer plans and register your child for the best summer ever. Your child will have the opportunity to explore nature on 52 beautiful acres, which include hiking trails, ponds, wooded areas, and more! They will discover new talents, try various activities, gain independence, and form lasting friendships and memories. Summer Camp begins on June 2! Mental Health Access Days
Are you an adult struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenge? Meet with a professional from 4C Health who can connect you to the support and services you need. Mental Health Access Days are held each Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s main branch, 220 N. Union St.
Closing the Gap
The Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., will hold its annual Closing the Gap Summer Camp from June 3 through July 3. The camp takes place each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. through those dates. The camp provides classes focusing on language, computer skills, reading, mathematics, and STEM, led by licensed teachers, and instruction is given based on Indiana state standards. Classes will be filled with students selected by academic need, teacher recommendation, and school attendance. A parent must consent to sharing their child’s test scores with Closing the Gap teachers and administrators. This camp is free to attend and is available to children in grades K-5. Drums Alive!
Use rhythmic drumming and upbeat music to improve health, coordination, and strength at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library’s Drums Alive! session on Tue., June 3, from 10-10:30 a.m. The event will take place at the library’s Russiaville branch, 315 Mesa Dr. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Free Summer Food Bags
This summer, all Tipton County families with kids under age 17 can register to pick up a free weekly food bag. Through Aug. 2, the bags will be available at the Tipton County Family Resource Center, 3021 W. Old St. (Ind. 28), as well as the Boys and Girls Club, and the Love Bug Café, 222 S. Independence St. The pick-up times are Mondays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Each bag includes shelf-stable, kid-friendly food items along with a voucher for hot food from The Love Bug Café. Northwestern Schools Summer Meals
Northwestern School Corp. will offer a summer meal program, free to all friends ages 18 and under. Beginning Tue., June 3, meal pick-up will be available at Howard Elementary School, 3526 N, CR 300 E, at Door 2, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday. The last day of distribution will be July 15. Each child will receive five breakfasts and five lunches. Visit www.nwscnutrislice.com to review the summer menu. Tzion Community Food Pantry

Teens’ Choice Book Club
Teens meet up once a month at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., to discuss a book with their peers. Each month will have a theme. The next meeting is Tue., June 3, from 5-6 p.m. Teens will talk about what they liked about their book, what they didn't, and how it fits the theme.
Yoga Does a Body Good
Celebrate the abundance of summer with this transformational yin yoga sequence, a slow-paced practice with floor-based poses held a bit longer than traditional styles. The session takes place Tue., June 3, from 6-7 p.m. This event, sponsored by the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, will be held at the Jeff Stout Community Center, 650 N. West St., Russiaville.

Aerobics with Marcus

Wednesdays at the Greentown Library
The Summer Reading Program at the Greentown Public Library, 421 E. Harrison St., is packed with activities for children. Each Wednesday at 1 p.m. through early July, the library will feature special programming. On June 4, Chalk the Block and transform the sidewalk around the library lot into a colorful masterpiece. On June 11, Color Your World with a beautiful porch spinner.
Café Wednesdays
Welcome Table, a new Christian community will hold Café Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. at the Starbucks next to the Markland Mall. Stop by, hand out, and learn more about how they welcome, include, and value all God’s beloved children. Soul Café worship gatherings will begin at Easter time. Kokomo Park Band Concert
The Kokomo Park Band returns on Wed., June 4, to perform Music from the Heartland, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the Highland Park Stage. Summer Reading Program Kick-Off
Kick off a summer filled with art and creativity! Join the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., on Fri., June 6, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. to sign up for the Summer Reading Program, earn prizes, and enjoy fun crafts and activities during its annual kick-off party.
2025 Kokomo Strawberry Festival
The 27th annual Strawberry Festival takes over downtown Kokomo on Friday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For just $8, enjoy the festival’s signature dessert layered with homemade shortcake, juicy strawberries, creamy ice cream, and a cloud of whipped cream. Come early, as shortcake is served until 7 p.m. or while supplies last. There will be more than 175 booths featuring food, artisan goods, handmade gifts, and festival favorites. Live music and entertainment will fill the streets with energy and local talent. The Artsapalooza Art Market, a juried showcase of fine art and crafts by up to 80 talented artists, will take place during the event. There will be hands-on art activities and play zones perfect for kids and families, including the ABATE Tiny Tots Motorcyle Experience. Craft beer and cocktails will be served throughout the walkable downtown festival area, thanks to DORA. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Each year, artists gather downtown during the Strawberry Festival for the Kokomo Plein Air Paint Out, presented by the Kokomo Art Association. This opportunity allows painters to create a masterpiece that highlights the scenery and action surrounding the festival. These paintings will be displayed in the Kokomo Art Center during the month of June. There is no entry fee or registration required. Just show up with your easels, canvases, and paint, and get ready to create! The session runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the festival. To have your painting displayed, drop it off from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Artworks Gallery, 210 N. Hollering at the Art Association
The Kokomo Art Association welcomes Christina Hollering as its featured artist from June 6-27. Hollering is a paper-cutting artist, muralist, and public artist who serves as associate professor at the Herron School of Art and Design. Her work will be on display at Artworks, 210 N. Fridays at the Greentown Library
The Summer Reading Program at the Greentown Public Library, 421 E. Harrison St., is packed with activities for children. Each Friday at 1 p.m. through early July, the library will feature special programming. On June 6, dress up in your brightest colors and get ready for a Technicolor Dance Party. This event will include black lights, strobe lights, and loud music. On June 13, head to Suburban Lanes in Tipton for an afternoon of Cosmic Bowling under the disco lights, complete with booming music and tons of fun.
Weekly Produce Pantry
Tzion Food Pantry, 614 W. Monroe St., holds a weekly produce food pantry every Friday from 1-3 p.m. Bring your own bags or boxes to take home your produce.
Bob Moore Organ Recital
Bob Moore, a church organist for more than 50 years, will perform an organ recital featuring the works of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Wagner, French, and contemporary pieces, concluding with the playing of The Lord’s Prayer. The recital takes place Fri., June 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 212 W. Walnut St. A reception will follow.
Sip and Savor
Join Waterford Place on Wed., June 10, for Sip and Savor, an interactive wine-making experience. From 4-6 p.m., professionals in the community will teach those in attendance how to make their own homemade wine. Skateboarding Lessons
The Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department will offer skateboarding lessons this summer. Registration is open now until June 6 by visiting the KPRD office in Highland Park. The cost of the lessons is $30, and the class dates are June 11, 18, 25, and July 2, 9, 16. Class time is 8:30-9:30 a.m. Elbow and knee pads and helmets can be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

PTSD Awareness 5K
