Just before 11 a.m., Deputies and Detectives made entry into the residence where Sandra’s deceased body was located. On February 8, 2023, at 1 p.m., an autopsy was conducted at the Howard County Coroner’s Office by a forensic pathologist. The findings upon exam are consistent with physical blunt trauma and the matter of death was ruled a homicide. At 4:35 p.m., positive identification of Sandra L. Wilson was made by a family member.
On February 9, 2023 at approximately 10 p.m., the Howard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team executed a search warrant at 5913 Waubesa Way with assistance from members of the Sheriff’s Task Force Unit, K9 Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Negotiations Team and Drone Unit.
Investigators determined prior to arrival that the residence was occupied by multiple subjects, including a juvenile. Upon arrival, visual confirmation was made that Jeremy N. Wilson was inside. Negotiators began giving commands for the residents to surrender out the front door of the house. After several minutes, the juvenile and two adult occupants exited the residence. After approximately 10 minutes of further negotiating, Wilson surrendered out the front door and was taken into custody without incident.
On March 8, 2023, HCSO Detectives served Jeremy N. Wilson with a no-bond warrant out of Howard Superior Court II for Murder, Aggravated Battery (F3) and Domestic Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (F5).
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that the filing of the information is merely an allegation, and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
Local author to speak at women’s gathering in Indianapolis
Kokomo-based author, curator, and arts producer Robin Williams is returning to her old stomping grounds in Indianapolis to celebrate women and host a book signing.
Williams will be a featured speaker at the International Women’s Gathering #EmbraceEquity event at the Global Village Welcome Center on Saturday, March 11, in Indianapolis at 1 p.m. Last year‘s event drew nearly 800 women from all over the world to the center, located at 4233 Lafayette Road on Indianapolis’ west side.
“I’m thrilled and honored to return to Indianapolis after having worked in Indy’s arts and culture scene for 10 years with a bevy of international artists and arts organizations,” emphasized Williams.
A lifelong champion for arts equity, access and excellence, Williams has served at the helm of several arts and cultural institutions in the Midwest and South.
Her notable work in the Indianapolis arts community included posts as inaugural Director of the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra, and as Director of Arts Education for AYS, where she instituted a multicultural arts program for children in 54 Central Indiana schools.
In 2006, Williams spearheaded the Garfield Park Arts Center for City of Indianapolis. International arts became the focus, with its opening Smithsonian exhibition, the “Alvarado Collection” of historic photographs from the Philippines. Other programs included the annual “Celebracion de Artes Latinas,” “ Indians,Indians: East Meets West,” and a plethora of programs to celebrate and uplift Indianapolis’ rich cultural communities.
Williams went on to take the helm of the Aviation Community Cultural Center for City of Atlanta and the New Orleans Jazz Institute at University of New Orleans.
In 2019, Williams returned to Indianapolis to curate an exhibition based on her book “Rhythm, Ritual & Resistance: Africa is Alive in the Black Indians of New Orleans” for the Center for Black Literature and Culture.
On March 15, she will also make an appearance in downtown Indy to conduct a book-signing and to exhibit her photographs of New Orleans Black Indians and Second-line Jazz culture at Mass Ave Wine from 5:30-7 p.m.
As artist and curator, Williams has presented more than 122 exhibitions throughout her career. She’ll present yet another exhibition in Indianapolis later in the year.
“I’m looking forward to an ongoing partnership with the Global Village, where I’ll have the opportunity to present my passion project, the Osogbo Art & Heritage Exhibition,” said Williams. “We are excited to celebrate the 63-year history of this renowned Nigerian modern art movement in October 2023.”
Williams currently serves on the board of directors for the Howard County Memorial Corporation and the Kokomo Art Association. She is also the Howard County Representative for the Regional Advisory Council at the Arts Federation in Lafayette.
