Maynard and I became friends when he moved to Kokomo from Atlanta. His wife, now widow, Robin Williams, is a Kokomo native and a friend of over 20 years. He and I were immediately comfortable with each other and enjoyed hanging out. Maynard was a guest in my home in Fishers many times and attended my 70th birthday celebration last June.
I was thrilled at his recent posting as endowed professor of journalism at Hampton University.
His legacy speaks for itself as an icon in his chosen field and profession. To me, most of all, I will miss our good times in friendship.
